Got this one.....You might as well order two. You'll loose one overboard GUARANTEED! Despite the price it works like a charm! I got the one with the notch it the blade makes it easy to cut heavy mono.

This is what I have.  It's sharp enough to gut a fish, (Forgot my regular knife once)

Troy, how snug is that knife in its scabbard? No chance of it slipping out without the handle being squeezed?

It's locked in.  One has to depress both the yellow tabs to remove the blade.  It comes out pretty quick once gripped and released.  I choose that blade due to is blunt tip.  I didn't want a point that could,  stick in me if dropped, or puncture my float tube if used on it. As mentioned the factory edge on it is sharp. I used it to gut trout one time on Loch Lomond.  Wasn't the best knife for that, (Without a pointed tip) but due to its sharp edge I was able to make due.  Can't attest to how well it'll hold an edge after sharpening, as I haven't bothered to to sharpen it yet.  Not needed!

For something small & low profile, Columbia River Knife & Tool has a little thing called a Dogfish that is a neat little blade. They have some other neat designs too.

On my PFD I've got the cheapest, smallest SS dive knife I could find with a serrated edge.

Its not shown in the pic but you can tie a loop of thin bungie thorugh the handle and thread you hand through it before you pull it out of the sheath and you won't lose it.

I'm not a fan of knives that clip in the sheath. So far I've lost 2 while diving cause the sheath got compressed or squashed and the knife released.

When yaking I like a fixed blade knife that I keep connected to my pfd, same location every time.  I use a Buck Pathfinder.  I know there are folding, one hand opening knives, but in a true emergency you may not have the stability to do the one hand deploy.

I'm not sure many people other than yourself make 1000 foot dives and have to worry about hard plastic and steel compressing.  I'm not sure if it's a good problem to have or not.

This was a concern for me as well. I originally had a folding knife & realized I may not have time to open it in a pinch. Also, seems like a quick-opening (one-hander) model still runs the risk of failing to open, especially after a little time in the salt. Since I only had a folding knife, I started locking it open with a sheath on the blade before going out.

I also have the Wenoka as like Jprtroy,
I have had this knife for 4 years and have not had to sharpened it yet.
It has never come loose from the sheath and is easy to release with a natural grip on the handle.
I would also suggest the blunt tip for safety reasons - imagine falling out of your boat and getting tangled in your rod leash - would you want to try cutting yourself free with a sharp point?

With 12 seconds of bottom time can you even hit 10 feet?   :smt003

The sheath got bumped by a weight from my belt and it released, not sure what happened on the second. The sheaths are usually thin rigid plastic, doesn't take much to squeeze them outta shape and get the knives to pop out.

I haven't tried just squeezing 1 side, to test how well the kinfe stays in,  usually squeeze both releases to remove my knife.
