Here is a shot of a brookie caught in the same area thus making it a difficult ID, for me anyway

At first glance I thought brook trout. Looks to be confirmed by the last pic. I have caught small golden trout in the sierras at whiterock lake stream below the spillway. Some trout are so beautiful its justlike holding a small fortune.

I agree, brookie! I've caught a bunch just like that in Alpine county fishing with a 1wt  :smt007

sounds good to me. thanks for the ID
I suspected it may have been a hybrid since they both are found in this area.

brookie, the second looks like a golden...but the pic doesnt show it very big...

brook trout and golden trout do not hybridize, as brook trout are actually char, while golden trout are related to rainbows (thus hybridizing readily)

hey now, just because they are tiny doesnt mean they dont have feelings.
I think the best part about chasing those little gems is the places they hang out and the adventures involved in finding them. Then, when you do nab a decent size fish it is all that much more glorious.
