I'm planning to head out for my first Sturgeon trip this Saturday Jan 31 after I drop off my wife in the city.

Going to head to Oakland Airport launch at 9AM.  That is right after the bottom of the tide =( but I really dont have a choice but to go then.

Also may be going out super sunday as is an annual tradition, but probably more local to modesto, will post up a hookup when and if I can firm up the details.

Sorry Ben, I'm out. Just got some secret info about a local hot bite. So I'm going to stick around here instead of making the 4hr roundtrip drive. Good luck on your first sturgeon hunt though.

I might be there, but would love to have some experienced sturgeon slammers around.  Last time I went it was on a party boat where I basically did nothing BUT party!  (and hook up).  Where do we get tackle and bait?  How do you "pump" a shrimp?  (sounds kinky)

Sorry to hear about that Pat.  I'm sure we'll catch up some other time

Pete I also would really only be willing to go out there if there are more experienced people around.  Looks like Ariel is going out and he's got about as much xp as anyone else at OAP!

I've got my VHF and will have it tuned to 68

BTW Bassman, didn't mean to imply you DON'T have lots of experience!  No harm meant.  One thing I learned from the NCKA guys I met: sturgeon fishing is a long day sitting around in a tiny boat, and you should really go if the tides are awesome, meaning if the crafty old-timers are all going out (like they were a few weeks back).  I am game either way, though, and I need a fishing trip.  How are the tides Saturday AM?  I dont even know what tides are good.  I think right before and after a really high or low tide.

Sorry Ben,
Finances are low this week for me, and It would be a 8 hr round trip - to much for one day.

Pete if you ask me the tides don't look that great tbh.

but I don't really have a choice - I have to fish whenever I can and this is probably my only chance in the next month or so =)
