Met up with one of my shore fishing buddy this morning at OAP for his first ever
sturgeon chase on a kayak. He had warned me half way there that it was windy
and that the water was choppy but, I had to see the water condition myself if
it was still safe to head out. We fished about a mile out for about an hour or so.
Then move to deeper water for the rest of the day. Fortunately, that was the
place to be. I hear a scream behind me so I turned around. My buddy was already
on his first ever sleigh ride. I was so happy for him. He had told me that he has
never caught a leagal sturgeon before even on shore let alone on a kayak. Here
are some picture of him. Oh! for me , I caught my personal best bat ray. This one
took me for a sleigh ride and actually a lot longer fight than the sturgeon I caught
last Monday. I swear I thought that it was my second sturgeon until I saw this
big fat head with this enormous wing span.

Love on the water between FindThatFish and SurfFisher. I see the way you two lovebirds are staring at eachother in the photo. "Brokeback Kayak" two strangers whose affections were ignited by one sturgeon.

"Here, you can use my snare", FTF says to the SurfFisher.

Wow wow wow, get back there.  You asked me to grab your hand  :smt011.  Thanks Jed for the evidence  :smt012

Yeah, I just dropped a feisty ghost shrimp and was trying to plan a way to take a leak but remembered I was going commando in my farmer johns  :smt009.  Didn't know how I was going to pull that off without a :moon .   Contemplating whether or not to cut a hole in my lousy wet suit, I got some nice pumps on the rod and set the hook.  The fish started dragging me away but I couldn't undo my slipknot/anchor release so I had to cut the rope with my leatherman.  Now I have that slay ride I've been dreaming of.

Special thanks to Jed, Andy, and Paul for helping land my legal sturgeon EVER.  I've logged 60hrs+ the last few months from shore for sturgeon w/ nothing.  Had my first broiled sturgeon steak and have to say, it was really good.  Can't wait till next time, but I'll get my own snare and leave the hand holding to my girl friend  :smt003.

Thanks Allen for the kind words. Actually, I am just giving back to the NCKA folks.
I've been treated here really well so the least I could do is give back to the other
newbies like myself.
