After many weeks of research, reading these forums and talking to yakkers, I made the plunge and on Fri. I bought a '09 Revo. Wee-Haw! Took it on it's maiden voyage yesterday, launching at Black Point for an afternoon cruise on a calm, windless day.

Love the yak but there is something that bothers me about it. The pedal on the right side contacts the inside of the hull. I pulled the drive out and reinserted it thinking I may have put it in wrong initially. Still hits on the right side. Both pedals are the same height, the bar across the top is level and looking through the gap in the pedals, it appears to be in line with the centerline of the hull.

What's going on here? Thanks for your help in this.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!

Welcome Hank (dan) hehe! I have put hundreds of miles on mine this last year and only replaced a couple nine dollar parts ....one due to a sunken log and the other because I didn't put locktite on the one I "fixed". I also noticed things were getting a little sloppy so I purchased the two main cranks (less than thirty bucks) and I should be good to go once I install the whole thing in the "new hull" oooops!

what number hole do you have your drive set to? If its on seven and your legs are fully extended, try moving them to 6. Your knees should be a little bent anyway.

Once you go Hobie you'll never look back... :smt002 Not clear on where your hitting the hull? Are you hitting it from the side? If so, it's not seated right, or are you extending enough to hit the front. Never had that happen. The fins hit the bottom of the hull before that happens.

I have the drive set at 7 and my knees are still nicely bent. This is the way it was set up for me at the dealer. I appreciate the responses and suggestions from the members and I will be trying the drive at different settings.

However, the thing that bothers me the most is this is an issue from the start. I have been in contact with Hobie and they informed me that when the drive mounts are installed the hull is still slightly warm and pliable and a "few" of the hulls are experiencing this problem. They said a solution would be to take the mount on the right side out and put a washer under each screw. My thought, and response to Hobie, is this would make the pedal on the right side sit higher than the pedal on the left. (Currently they sit at the same height.) I then suggested they exchange the hull for one where this is not a problem.

When I contacted the dealer, he told me all of the '09 Revos did this. I mentioned this in my next email to Hobie and they told me to take it to the dealer, he would get pictures, and a warranty claim would begin. My next question to them was if all of the new Revos at the dealer had this problem, could I just have the dealer take a picture of one of those and they could use that as the basis for the warranty claim. This is where the matter sits at this point. I will keep you all informed of the results.

I don't want to sound like I am nit-picking on this issue. I compare this to buying a new car and discovering that one of the wheels rub. I contact the manufacturer and they suggest a way to fix the problem when the problem shouldn't have been there to begin with. It's an annoyance and a quality control issue with me.

In spite of these problems I still like the yak. It's fast with the turbo fins, the sailing rudder is muy responsive and I  look forward to many hours of fishing out of it.........as soon as Hobie gets the right pedal to stop rubbing.

Talked to John at Windtoys and he said the '08s don't rub but the new mounting system on the '09s do rub.

So could it have something to do with the new click-and-go system?  As far as I know, they didn't alter the drive opening, or yak-gina, as some refer to it.

Look forward to hearing how this is resolved.

Either way Hobie will "Do you right" Just remember to remover your sailing rudder when you take the hull back!  I got a chance to look at the new drive mounting hardware at the San Mateo ISE recently,  I thought it was nice!  I have the old, original "Screw in"  on my 08' OB, and this new "drop in looked to be a little more quick to seat the drive.
Apparently there are some issues with the new drive seats. Fear not, Hobie will take care of this matter for you.

I have no doubt Hobie will do all that is possible to sort out the problem. They have a great reputation for customer service and, of course, don't want negative feedback on their products.

WAY back in '69 when I was in high school I had a Hobie long board. Wish I still had it.

Took the Revo back to the dealer and he did everything he could think of to get that right pedal from scraping. It appears to me if the rod that supports the pedal had 3 or 4 more threads, it could be tightened enough to move the pedal to the left a shade without being so tight it wouldn't spin. All I really need adjustment wise is a RCH to get it to clear.

After much consideration I have decided to adjust the pedals to the 6 position and forget about it. It's a sweet yak otherwise and now I can get to the business of fishing out of it.........just as soon as I get rodholders, anchor, fish finder,etc.,etc. You all know the routine. Gotta' pimp it!
