Rookie here. Heard all the excitement at OAP so I had to give it a shot.

Anchored next to the white buoys at 2 pm; as a rookie, was too nervous about venturing out too far where the rest of the kayaks and boats were. I think I spotted at least 7 kayaks out there; were they NCKA'ers?

After about fifteen minutes or so, a kayaker peddled (not paddled) by and asked if there were anything. No luck next to the buoys.

After some time on the water plus the fact that the water was much calmer than when I paddled out, I got more comfortable on the water and moved a bit further closer to the other kayakers, but still not near them.

Anchored again dropped the ghost shrimps for about 20 minutes. I was about ready to call it a day. I had 10 more ghost shrimps left though; what to do? I decided to pick the liveliest of the shrimps (some were dead). Stuck two ghosties to each of the two hooks and dropped it. About 2 minutes later, I felt a little nibble. I waited for the second nibble just to be sure and I set the hook. Played with it for about 15-20 minutes before I was able to see it next to the kayak. After making sure it was legal by measuring it in the water, I pulled it onboard.

Lesson of the day: only use live and active ghost shrimps for maximum results.

All 7 kayakers were NCKA'ers and I was the one that pedaled by you in the orange Hobie.

Congrats Yakaroo!
