Based upon the extreme price slash, and the fact that it is a discontinued model, I'd be a bit leery of it. However, a quick google search yields some pretty good 3rd party reviews.

I have a great 4 person tent made by Eureka!, but they unfortunately don't make it anymore either. If you want something that can stand up to more than just light winds and sunny days I would advise you ensure any tent you buy has all of the following at a minimum:
Aluminum poles
"Bathtub" floor (no seams, or seam sealed, floor that extends 4"-6" up the walls)
Factory seam-sealed rainfly

The hobitat lacks the bathtub floor which would normally help keep rain and morning dew from leaking into your tent. But for the price, it may be worth it.
Searching is half the fun: life is much more manageable when thought of as a scavenger hunt as opposed to a surprise party. -Jimmy Buffett

I have the 6'er....thanks for starting the thread, just checked REI's site and the vestibule and foot print got slashed in price big time! Time to buy  :smt003

I'm no expert camper, I choose comfort not everest conditions and only have 4 trips with this tent under my belt but I'm pretty pleased with it so far.  First trip was at Elk.  There was a strong wind on day one and once it was staked it was solid. That night there was a heavy mist also and it stayed dry inside, moisture wasn't a problem.  No rain yet, but I don't expect to camp in bad weather. It also doubled as a changing room and indoor storage....for those with "lesser" tents :smt003  Took another trip to brannen island in the dead of August during a heat wave, +100 each day.  No rain fly straight mesh netting, and it was comfortable at night.  Put the rain fly on during the day for shade, can't say I didn't roast my tail off when I tried to take a nap but my buddies tent was no different.  2 trips to Ft. Ross, fog, heavy mist at night, warm temps and no shade during the day and it was fine.

The few cons I've found.  Requires at least 2 people to put it up (I did it by myself once, its possible but not fun).  The rain fly, twice I've put it on and had to completely remove to get it on straight and all lined up to completely cover all four corners.

I read some reviews saying they are weak in the wind but that wasn't my experience.  The floor seam is not directly on the floor either, if I recall its sits up off the floor a bit, doesn't look like it'd leak if it sat in a puddle.

My last tent I got, was at Costco,  many years ago.  It was a "Kealty"(?) brand and I camped the snot out of that thing for 7 seasons.  It was a large dome, (7' center) something like sleeps 8?  anyhow, during a jeeping trip on the Rubicon one year, camped at Spider lake, the winds were TERRIBLE!  As we were camped on granite, staking the tent at all corners didn't work.  Fortunately I was able to stake 2 sides and the wind was so bad it caused the tent to pull the stake down rings apart!  Opened them right up! Pulled them open.
Well, that trip did in 1 of the 3 fiberglass poles, shattered it from bending stress! The tent was practically laying back flat!  Next day, no wind at all!
As I recall I didn't pay much for it, $48? certainly under $100.  I remember thinking to my self at the checkout t if it works great, I was surprised, by it's quality, it didn't leak was easy to set up for such a large dome.  It was sizeable though when packed away in it's duffel bag.
Maybe that particular one was an exception.

Seconded.

I have a Kelty that we have been using for 8 years of hard use. Excellent tent. Very well thought out, good ventilation and the floor/rainfly has been bulletproof.

Mike, Laurie and I love our Hobitat-6. I got it mostly for her and Ty. The height and straight sides makes the inside space more usable you can stand and walk to the sides and corners. :smt003 It isn't as easy as other tents to assemble but after a couple times you have it down.
