OK guys I have been researching the anchor trolley and now know how I will proceed except for one thing.  I understand the importance of a quick release for the anchor for safety/fish fighting reasons.  How can this work with the anchor trolley?  If your anchor line is going through a ring or clip on the trolley rope, how do you set up a float for your anchor if you have to release it?  The float wont fit through the ring as far as I can tell.  So how can you make this system work with a quick release and still be able to go back and pick up your anchor and float?  Or is it not possible with an anchor trolley?   Any help would be appreciated.---Jeff

Mooch this is too simple.  Thanks for the info.  I may have to copy your design.  I am rigging a Prowler 15 Angler Edition.  The dual snap answers my questions, but I may have more as I get into this.  Thanks so much.===Jeff

I am making one for my new trident 15 also. I am thinking about a loose line on a ring below the float that comes back to the boat so I can just pull the anchor line to me instead of paddling back so the anchor line slides on the release rope.I know thats one more line but if the anchor line catches or knots for some unkown reason this would be helpful, no?

I think that is worth a try.  I may set this up in two weeks.  Will post about how it works. :smt006

I finally received my anchor trolley components and will soon put it together. For
the mean time just to get by so I can fish and chase Mr. Sturgeon, this is how
I went about it. I hope it helps a little.

The ends of your main anchor trolley line on the yak is tied onto the closed loop section and the anchor line goes through the snap section.  So whenever you want to toss your anchor line out just press on the snap to open and line overboard!  So instead of using a ring, use a Swivel Eye Bolt Snap.  I got mines at a local hardware store, but you could also order it on line.

Although, this is my setup for now.  I gotta say Mooch has it down simple.  Because the less time you mess around with trying to get your anchor line out and fight the fish at the same time the safer the environment.  So make sure what you end up going with is simple cause you might rethink later to re-fix things that you should have done in the first place.  But that's just life...mold something then remold.  And that is how we end up with new products...ideas.

I'm a neanderthal here.
I use a fixed stern or bow line.
then  a big ole' stainless carabiner that is attached to the main anchor line (with the float threaded through that line)
to the carabiner is attached a smaller "keeper line".

Clip the carabiner into the fixed line, leave the keeper line sitting in your lap. When you need to release, a pull or two on the keeper brings the carabiner to you, and you can grab and unclip the carabiner.
