Impressive fish Terry. The Clear Lake wind machine can be brutal........doesn't seem like you minded much by the smile on your face.

The Clear Lady produces another winter hog!  Thanks for the report.  Obviously the secret agents are working, but what artificials might work up there in the winter?

I've caught many bass, up to 6#, during late November, December and January at Clear Lake on artificials. The best lure I found was watermelon candy or watermelon red flake baby brush hogs (5") on 1/8 oz slider jig heads (1/8 oz ball jig heads would also work). I fished that on 6# mono with a light spinning rig, around broken rock on dropoffs in the 5'-25' depths, slowly swimming the hog over the rocks using a "do nothing" retrieve. You need clear water for this approach to work well, but when it's working it's a lot of fun, especially on the light tackle!

Good fishing! FB

Im on board for the AOTY but I flailed on the photo op. could have been the wind chop or my still shaking hands or both.
Just means I have to spend more time on clear lake. things are rough for me.

There are artificial presentations that will probably take victims. The downsize and deadstick philosophy on deep structure would seem the most logical from a "bassin" point of view.
Im taking a different path by focusing on full figured baits and agents to hunt full figured bass.
It seems that if the big agent will work then I should be able to make it happen with a big swimbait or a deep suspending rip. It seems that im not ready   yet.

maybe someone with some photo skills can help interpret this measurement
?

Hey Terry,

Using some image analysis software (ImageJ) and the known width of the hawg trough plus the six or so unreadable inch markers near the tail for scale, I get a measurement of 21.6 inches for the extent of the fish I can see.   If the nose section wasn't cropped out of the picture I might have gotten a larger measurement.
