I woke up with a baby inside my head (or so it felt) due to bringing in the new year last night.  There was not going to be any fishing before noon for me today.  So I laid around the house with my spam and eggs and watched the Shining.  I almost blew off fishing altogether, but "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

So I got on the water around 2 and started throwing the spook.  It was cool and overcast with little to no wind, good conditions overall.  I managed one legal striper and one dink on top (released as usual).  It was pretty slow, so I traded the spook for a jig with intent to see if any largemouths were about.  I was really surprised to get a bump, and missed the first.  I was ready for the second and brought a nice one-eyed largie to the boat.  It was starting to get dark, so that was it for me.  Baits were a bone super spook and a 1/2oz black jig with blue grub trailer.

Great report of solid multi-species action, X.  WTG!   :smt001

And Jim, your sad "caught nothing" tag-along report deserved its day in the sun!   :smt005  At least you got on the water.   :smt001

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

Way to jump start the year XSquid.  Good to see that you can still find the black bass with the jig.

Its gonna be a kick-a$$ new year!
