I have a few Scotty flush mount rod holders I'm going to install on my T-13. My question is? If I'm going to install the holders where there's no access to reinforce the back side or install bolt's and nuts. Will screws and glue hold them in place good enough? How are you guy's installing where theres no access to the inside of the Kayak?
 Thanks for any advice.
Miguel

seal with goop and use blind rivets...oh and make sure the bottom of the rod holder is closed off...otherwise you have a nice big hole into your yak....

I get my rivets at hook 1 (they are great)!

screws or rivets will hold but make sure that they have a coarse bite on them and are as big as you can fit in the holes on
the rod holders even if you have to make the holes a little bigger.

before you do this make sure that someone
with long arms cant reach this spot, or you can install a small hatch some where near the mounting site to gain
access to the place that want mount the rod holders.

good luck duane :smt006

see how you are going about the rod holder.

Thanks,

I will be taking pictures, and posting. Just waiting to have all materials for the install.
I went to Claveys today and they had rivets in stock and a few other parts I needed. I'll pick up a rivet gun tommorow.

Eric,
Those round flush mount's are the exact ones I got.

Thanks for all the advice guy's.

Use rivets. They are stronger, cheaper, and require smaller holes than a wellnut.  Make sure you get the right style of rivet.  The ones from Hook1 are the ones your looking for, regular pop rivets will pull right out.

Probably the same reason the ruin a space big enough for two flush mounts by sticking one smack in the middle  :smt013

Heres pictures of my rod holder project on my non-angler trident 13. The 2 rear holders will be for trolling and the front holder I would use for anchor bait fishing or drifting. I use the Cabelas quick draw rod holder, I like how you can set the hook with out having to take the pole out. I also use the Redi-set rod holders which swivel in place to keep the pole straight when kayak swaying on the anchor, really good for sturgeon fishing! There what I use on my power boat.  Next project will be a FF, if I could make up my mind on which to get!

Pat,
Did you buy the Hummingbird locally or off the internet? I went to a few stores and couldn't find a store that carried those. Did you have to exchange the transducer out to fit your scupper hole mount on the T-13? Do you know the transducer model # that fit's the Scupper mount? I'm still looking at either the eagle 245ds or one of the hummingbird 500 models. From what I read here on the site, they both sound like good choices.
