I put a Thermette on my Christmas list.  I'll let you know.  I like the super OS look of copper construction, the large capacity, and the side handle.  I'll let you know if I get one.

Awesome product, Sean.  Thanks for this thread.  The Thermette looks like the clear choice.

Cool discussion.  I never knew these things existed.  I've always used my old MSR burn any liquid fuel stove.  But I like the idea of not carrying fuel.

The thing about the thermette though for backpacking is it looks gigantic.  Seems too big to fit in a backpack.  I'm going to hike in to Big Flat soon and would like to get one of these types of stoves.

It will fit in my pram ez!  Besides if you take a thermette backpacking just fill it with "supplies"  :smt002 so its not wasted space.

Definitely looks a bit bulky/heavy for packing, but I do know some guys who might carry it simply for Manly Factor. I have to admit, the simplicity and efficiency of that kettle is tempting. If the price was right I'd pick one up for use with my ever present coffee press while car camping.

For packing I'll stick with my old Optimus multi-fuel. It's light and proven thoroughly bulletproof. Optimus came out with a new ultra-light-super-multi-flex-fuel stove called the Vapor awhile ago. Claims it will burn any liquid fuel and gas bottles to boot.

These things look great!  They look like they can supply a good amount of heat to warm up hands! (Like at "Chillin at Del Valle II" hopefully not in the rain) I'm not a coffee drinker, but do tea once in a while.  One of these things would be nice to have.

I think I would opt for the Dingo Bushkettle before the kellykettle.
It really like the design.

i ordered a thermette. i like its classic boot-legger look. it also appears to have a wider chimney mouth which makes for a broader flame-pattern for my frying pan.
