Well folks, it was one year ago today that I took Kenny Rogers the Urban Camo Yak out for his maiden voyage (with me) at Lafayette Reservoir. It’s been a long and incredibly productive fishing year for me since! I just wanted to say a very big THANK YOU   :smt008 to all you NCKA’ers who’ve helped me out this year and to the site in general, it’s been enormously helpful. It’s hard to remember what I did before kayak fishing and even harder to imagine what I’m going to do until rockfish season reopens!

Some pics of the year

Maiden Voyage; very wet, no scupper stoppers, in jeans

First fish, a midget trout

First trip to Ft Ross, when a stringer of gophers was like winning the World Cup

Psychotic Pelican

First legal Ling, finally.

Mendo Striper

Talked M’Lady into it as well, wasn’t hard

She did herself proud

Even the dog got in on the action

Even when the fishing was slow, it was pretty

Got a cab in there as well

As did the wife

From cab to crab

Even did some Abking-ing!

NB -

Your rookie year was totally awesome.  :smt003 Your first post on LR still one of the most entertaining of all time.  :smt044 Unfortunately our only hookup was a total skunk at the SPR opener. Let's hookup for some saltwater rehab. :smt006

I enjoyed following along he second time thru almost as much as the first time, thanks!

And I'm very much looking forward to fishing with you, (and the dog and wifey) soon.

Hey Phil, congrats! Too bad I did not play a part on your big-blue epic. Still trying to get my vertigo-scare out of my mind. I will go out for sure next season if you'll promise to tow me back to shore when I get a vertigo attack  :smt010 . My vertigo worries me more than anything else  :smt011.

Hello Captain Phil. I hope you never get tired of me calling you that. Thanks for introducing me to my very first BIG BLUE outing and also
helping me along the way. I just hope I can be as productive as you
have on your first year. Let's do some delta and lakes sometimes.

Take care,
Jedmo

It was nice fishing with you at the Ft. on Veterans day Phil.  I'd swear I thought it was James Bond 007 himself on the vhf asking if there are NCKA'ers on the water.  Hope next year is double the fun... :smt002
