Went to SCR this afternoon for maiden voyage of my "new" Caper.  Paid the $7 inspection and launch fee, only to get skunked.  But whatever, it was a good paddle.  Water is WAAAY down.

It'll take some getting used to the Caper, but i think it'll be a fun boat.  definitely prefer the Adventure for trout trolling, but the Caper'll have its applications.  Can maintain ~3.5 mph with relative ease and its pretty comfortable.  The lack of a lots of cargo space means it'll be for short distance kelp potholing trips, river runs, or just goofing around.  Def. not a distance trolling boat.

Wow, with water levels that low you'd think the fish would be bunched up. Thanks for the pics and reports. I'll have to had down sometime soon this winter and hook up with you to chase some trout in the local lakes.

Well, if you were going for trout I don't think they have planted any this year and supposedly aren't going to again.  I've checked the planting schedule for weeks (though it's broken currently) hoping they would so I can do a little shore fishing on my way home from work.

There are still a ton of bass in there though, probably go for those big ass trout lures!

Trout planting in the lakes in SCCPD have been suspended by court order. They will only plant the ponds:

man, really prescient quote there.  Go buy a Lotto ticket!!  :smt044

Now WTH are us South Bay working stiffs gonna do, John?  totally feels like getting kicked in the 'nads.  With lexington drained to a puddle, no plants in SCR, the only viable FW alternative looks like Lake DV or other EBMUD concessionaires.  ugg.... this sucks.   :smt011

As to Lex, well, its gonna be a while before its anywhere near to how it used to fish when 6MHz was around.  I predict we can kiss the next two years goodbye with the work being done on the dam and the low rainfall levels.
