West Sacramento made a new access to the port. Parking lot, trails, and access to a ramp for car top boats.
Parking is at the intersection of Jefferson and S. River Rd.
You can't drive down to the ramp, so bring your wheels or another body to help carry boats to it.
I would suggest you not leave anything unattended or left in sight.

Looks like a perfect put in spot for a kayak, I wish they had more access areas like this throughout the delta system. Thanks for the info.:smt023

went yesterday, & pretty good spot!
Does anyone know if they close the gate or not?  I saw the sign & it said sunrise to dusk, so I had to hurry out there yesterday, but the one local guy said the gate stays open all the time.  I wanna nite fish there sometime...

Maybe this could help you.

Barge Canal Access: Located at 2100 Jefferson Boulevard in West Sacramento. The access features an all-weather vehicle parking area, a hand-carry boat ramp for non-motorized boats, an all-weather walking/biking trail and fishing access along south bank of the Barge Canal. For more information, call the City of West Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation, 916-617-4620.

I have talked to people who have been fishing that spot for a few years and they say the gates have never been locked. I did see a couple spots with broken window glass on the ground, so breakins do occur there. At night you may want to park closer to Jefferson so your car is in view of cars passing by.
