My brother wants to get a kayak. He is looking for a high capacity yack that he can load up for diving, fishing, and crabbing. He wants to maximize his trips, doing two or more activities at a time while on the big blue. (He would do all three at the same time if poss.)

My brother came over and paddled my O.K. Drifter. He liked the Drifter well enough, but it lacks storage. The Drifter has 100lbs less cap. than the O.K. Big Game that he is now interested in.

I told him to take a look at the cobra fish and dive for the capacity and storage.

He wants to stay in the 12 foot range with the highest capacity possible.

So what are your thoughts about the Cobra Fish/Dive or Ocean Kayak Big Game kayaks and how would the Drifter fit in?

He needs to do some research, and test driving, the first question I would ask is why stop at 12 feet, to get capacity at 12 ft, you're gonna compromise speed (ease of paddling), whereas a 14 ft 9or longer) boat may have the same or more capacity and be easier to move along.

The reason I say this is that I almost bought a 13 ft boat last year and am glad I didn't.  I went a little longer and am happy.

Spot on there! If he has a full 8' bed, the Malibu X-Factor might warrant consideration as it has 650# capacity and lots of storage. But, it is 14'.

My X-Factor (14'4") rides in my Chevy Silverado's standard 6' bed just fine (tailgate down).

I haven't paddled all those others.  I love my X-Factor.   :smt001
