Yeah, this swell is pretty big. I'm gonna puss out on this one. Barring a drastic change in weather this evening, I won't be kayaking. I know....super weak.

Nah, no such thing. Since there isn't a rallying cry of "must fish saltwater or bust" on here this evening, I think I will bug out as well. It was pretty gnarly looking out there around sunset, and the swell is supposed to grow by a foot or so.
Bummer way to end the season, but conditions are what they are...
I'll probably take the dog to the beach instead of the kayak.

Hey Guys,
I'm going to pass on Sunday too. I was up ab diving at Fort Ross on Friday and was lucky to get some calm water. That was not the case on the outer waters though with large and consistent swells building throughout the day. Since the NOAA forecast for Sunday is 12-14' or bigger with a 13 second interval, I am guessing that it will be a roller coaster ride out there and the fish will be sleeping in late on sunday riding out the swells. It's been a great season and can't wait until next year.   Cheers Mike

I agree with Sin Coast that the swell is actually huge in the Monterey Bay area!!! My daughter and I were walking along the beach out by the Fort Ord coastal region and the surf whitewash was almost coming up to the bluffs at times!!  Im guessing 12ft breakers.

Just a head-up for tomorrow. If you go, do it early. The safest launches w/b MBk or San Carlos beach. I was out there in a b0@t today and we couldn't even get around the corner at Pt Pinos--it was very rough. Had to retreat back to the mile bouy area and the fishing/catching was awful....

Did the sunday morning dog jog again, this time out at Pillar Point.  Check out these waves.  No way you'll see me out on a day like this.  tons of photogs capturing the surfers.

I really wanted to close out the RF season strong, but there's always next season.
