Met up with Fuzzy Tom and we fished it pretty hard today. The weather was beautiful, warm and no wind. But the Ocean was a little bumpy, mostly on the inside from the surge against the shore washing backwards and mixing up the water a bit. The tide seemed high for most of the day. The bite was slow for the most part. Not sure if 40-50ft of visibility was the problem or ? Saw tons of schooly RF, blues, YT etc. I was fishing large plastics all day. Caught 2 underlings, one keeper 27", sm Cabby and a few othere RF. The two YT Tom gave me rounded out a nice Potpouri of fish. Thanks again Tom.

"No wind" is right - I think you could have toured the whole Carmel Bay anytime today and not gotten any wind over 3 mph.  I toured a bit of it and trolled up lots of olives or yt, mostly in the skinny 13" range, and threw all back except one badly hooked and one larger one. I had no luck jigging - I wish I had half of Kimo's patience.  E2G and Nathan were also out, last report not doing great, but they did get way out near Cypress.  I did discover that if you go out near the west end of the reserve, there are a lot of ups and downs on the bottom between there and the shore kelp - most of the times I've been to Stillwater, that knowledge would be useless, because it's too bouncy out there.
Nice new Mazerati coupe in the parking lot, made the Boxters and Lexi look cheap.

Nice work, Fellas.  It's so stinking calm and flat up here right now - it's killing me not to be able to go rockfish and lingcodding!   :smt009

I cant believe Nathan and I stayed out until about 3 pm.  We only came in because of the thought of having to clean up in the dark.  Which we did anyway.  The conditions kept getting better all day.  Fished a while at cypress point, heck we probably good have gone to point Joe it was so calm.  Ran into Tom at the launch and on the troll.  Saw Kimo in the distance busy at work as well.  Also met another kayak fisherman on the water doing well.

we didnt get any lings or verms but were kept busy with a steady bite of blues, coppers, and kelp rockfish.  Mostly they prefered metal and shrimpflys to plastic today.  Nathan scored his first ocean whitefish.  He also nailed a pig of a kelp rockie.  He was afraid of losing it and handed me the knock off boga lip grip to keep the fish on while he got his stringer ready.  I dont know exactly what happened but the fish touched the water, squirmed and I watched it swim off.  No idea how it (or I) failed.  Oops :smt011

ended the day collecting some floating trash on the way in.  Looking back over the FAC water Nathan said, " it looks like a postcard.  It probably is a postcard huh? And we were in it!"  Could not say it better myself.  Life is good.  Dinner was also excellent :smt001
