So I received a early B-day gift (Stylus 850SW) and was wondering if anybody has a special mount for on the water self portraits.
I seem to remember seeing one but can't find where it was posted.
Tried search but no love. Help would be appreciated and pictures would be best.
Thanks,
Eric

Sorry no advice on the camera mount but was wondering if you have pimped out your T13 yet ?? as for the camera mount (JUST MY OPPINION) the more brackets and gizmos you have on a kayak just seem to get in the way.

I picked up a camera mount from REI that has a clamp that you can mount to anything. I mount mine to my Scotty Bar and it also is articulated for portrait and landscape shots. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of it but if you look by the camera stuff you should be able to find it.

Sounds like the same one I bought from REI. I haven't mounted it on my kayak yet.

Pat,
I agree about the mounts but I always catch fish when I'm on my own and I like to release them as soon as poss.
Al, and Shifty,
Thanks, I like that mount but would still like to attach it to the yak
any suggestions. I'm going to head to REI tomorrow and see what they have.
Thanks,
Eric

I don't like having too many gadgets either, but a good mount can add so much to your experience and the memories you'll record - it's worth it to me.   :smt001

I think that REI mount is a good idea - you need something that will get it up off of the deck level though.  Scotty Bar or some other high spot is a good idea.  A key is to be able to easily reach the control so you can quickly turn it from front view to landing a fish view...etc.

I know RAM has recently made a camera mount.  Don't have the time to find it now, but I've seen it on their sight.

That Gorilla Pod is awesome huh Pat? Available at REI if anyone's interested.

This has to be the best self-portrait rig I've seen. MSGDAN out of New Jersey.

Eric,  that's a home made job that Dan did.  I talked to him about it when we were up in Alaska together.  I can PM you his contact info if you want to pick his brain a bit or you can check this link ... http://kfs.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/948607442/m/7641049884?r=7641049884#7641049884

If you're up for a do-it-yourself project, pretty easy one, here's how I made mine:

Ask HobieBlue about it.  I have 3 mounting options all for the one camera mount.  I made it from Loc-Line tubing.

I made a cheap effective way to mount my camera using some pool noodle and a mini tripod.  Fits in my cup holder on the Hobie, and even floats the Camera!Camera Mount (16).JPGCamera Mount (12).JPG

With this mount, made this video:

"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."
