Glad they nailed some of those assholes. Law-abiding divers always keep their eyes peeled for poachers, but if the F&G shuts down some of these areas in the MLPA, they will be on their own in nabbing these guys.

5 out of 6 vehicles were violaters, they must have a pretty good idea who to stop,  I haven't seen any poaching rings in the last few years but in the past they used to be so open about it (Van Damme) that it made you crazy, talked to the DFG several times, but they didn't say much (because they were building the case), in the end there was a big bust with connections all the way back to Asia.

And

The state is hiring more Wardens as we speak.

Copied from Carrie Wilson's last Outdoor Q&A column

Question:  Are wardens hiring now? If so, how does someone apply? How much education is required? (James S. USMC, Al Taqaddum, Iraq)

Answer: Yes, wardens are being hired, right now! The application deadline is Nov. 7, 2008. DFG is hiring for the Academy class which starts in Jan. 2010. If you go to this link: www.dfg.ca.gov/jobs/docs/exams/FG-Warden-Cadet.pdf you will see the warden cadet job flyer and instructions on how to apply. The site also has basic job information about what a warden does, including a new video DFG produced to illustrate many of the job functions that many people don’t realize wardens do. Wardens must have the equivalent of two years (60 semester units) of college with 18 semester units in the biological sciences, police science or law enforcement, natural resources conservation, ecology or related fields.

Also,

Andrew,

I admire your dedication to protecting our access to North Coast fishing and diving, but with the MLPA, Fish and Game is not the enemy, while they are deeply involved, they like us are mostly along for the ride, I'm not even sure who's driving the bus anymore, but after having attended several MLPA meetings I'm pretty sure it's not F&G.

Hope to see you out there again some day,

Dale L

I guess i meant Fish And Game Commission, although to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what the difference is.
