I don't have a tag but I want to go bad.  Next year I think I will apply for tags.  Never shot anything like a deer before.

Hey Joe.  I heard it's rare to get drawn for X-1.  That's why I rarely put in.

I've been itchin' to harvest some deer.  I make a mean venison jerky!

Actually, I've been seriously considering this... especially around Lake Shasta.  There's a lot of shore area open to public hunting.  I was thinking about planning a weekend hunting trip.  I can store all needed camping supplies and my rifle or bow below the hatch.  Some of the best areas are down the river arms where you can cruise the shores.  Once you spot a buck, simply beach your kayak and begin your stalk.  Since the average blacktail is less than 150#, transporting one on your kayak should be no problem.  Let me know if any of you might want to give this a try.

I might do that if I can get away for a few days.  Who all are you camping with?

Travis, I will most likely be by myself. My family might be joining me, but that is up in the air right now. I do have a motorhome I am taking, and some gear tents.

Animales are usually not as easily spoked when you are on the water. Took land and they go running.

Yeah - I've seen a lot of Deer close to shore at Lake Del Valle. I've paddled in so close that I could have used a Hawaiian sling on 'em  :smt063 .....and the color of my kayak didn't seem to bother 'em at all  :smt017 Then again... I'm pretty sure that the Deer population in Del Valle are so used to seeing people anyway.

I wander how much rock and roll you would get from shooting a 300 ultra mag from a kayak?
