Sorry, haven't had the time to post my report for last Sunday till now.  Been fighting with my new camera to get the pictures off it, but having issues still.  Also been spending time with a friend in the hospital, so forgive my lateness on the report!

Got to the lake around 6:45, went through a very easy and thoughtful inspection of my yak, then went back to the beach and launched as the sun was peaking up over the hills.  Lots of fish jumping and surfacing in the early AM.

Started out trolling spinners and needlefish and a shad rapala, got a hit right away on the needlefish after clearing the swimming section and brought in a very small yet amazingly good fighter trout.  Was going to release, but he was bleeding from a deep cut so he went on the stringer.

On my way to the docks to meet up with my friend, see a bunch of little birds, all chasing a school of bait fish.  Figured there may be some stripers down below as well, so started tossing lures and minnows into the center of them.  Once got a take down, but when I reeled in it was one of the birds, and it let go.

Waited for my friend to show up by drifting bait over by the launch and docks.  He then launched and met up with me and realized he forgot the VHF I loaned him and  his license.  So he went back and got a day license and then we started our day.

Trolled from the launch down the narrows, with the same setup and stopped at the end cove to re-rig, this time trolling a minnow with flashers and a jointed rapala.  From there trolled over to the big rock, where I still see hundreds of fish on the finder about 30 ft from the rock, round 80ft down.  We tried drifting over the spot with; worms, minnows, squid, powerbait, flukes, and even grubs.  Nothing ever bit...  :smt013 Trolled our way to the dam cove, and rested in the shade a bit while bait fishing for some trout.

After cooling off, back on the troll!  Going across the bowl i reach the other side, and start reeling in one of my lines.  A rental boat came around the corner, and caught my other line on his bow.  I yelled for them to stop, and the girl at the front of the boat reached down, pulled the line off the boat and passed it over their heads till it was back in the water.  I reeled in and to my surprise there was a fish on!

Now... I don't know if I just missed the initial hit, or if when the boat caught my line and the rapala started shooting through the water with the speed of the boat pulling it and that fish went for it.  But none the less, pulled up about a 5LB monster that just after netting spit the lure out.

Thats it, just the two fish for me, none for my buddy.

May post pics later, if the darn camera will stop holding them hostage.

Great report Al!! Del Valle has been on my mind a lot lately. I am tempted to make the trip up there soon even though rock fishing is nearly over. Think I might give it a shot next weekend if all goes well.

All I did sunday was to staple insulation under my house, find some standing water, that was leaking from an open copper pipe, (Hot water, at that, missing it's cap somehow) so I repaired that, stopping the leak, then, finished stapling the insulation up that I had on hand.
Then became a couch potato for a few hours then got on line and played BF2 effectivly eating up the rest of the day/night.
Projects.  I need to make fishing a project, maybe then I can get some done!

Right on Al. A 5lber is a nice size trout. Hopefully your guantanamo camera releases the pics. What happened to your last camera?

JP, you weekend warrior you!  I could put you to work on designing a down rigger for my outback or something? :)  Or hell, I need some insulation for my place too  :smt044

Sin, I don't know, but at MBK I must have tossed it in my car too rough or something, broke the lens cover that makes it water proof.  Camera still worked, but I sold it to someone who didn't care if it was water proof or not.  Thought I would love this new, expensive, olympus 10MP.  But am missing my Optio W20 eveytime I whip this one out.

Jay, I was thinking of heading out on Sat too, but hear there is rain in the forecast.  I'm not sure, but will they let me on the water if its raining this weekend?  They did say that the inspection is good for 30 days, but heard on another report that they may not honor it.  If thats the case, there may be no way to hit the water during a storm...  Pity, since I think its fun to fish out there in the rain.
