If you guys want to shoot pigs, come to Texas! They are over running our state. They are tearing up any and every thing in site. There is no season, no limits, and any method goes. They have become a real problem here,

My deepest apologies Jim , I assumed that was the biggest , you know what they say about assuming ! Nice pig , the big Momma must have been huge . Did you weigh her , looks well over 100 lbs .

I love this type of post. It makes me wish I had more friends that hunt. Fresh sausage and fresh pork is awesome. It beats the crap they sell in a supermaket!

i want to go hunting!  anyone interested in a guided fishing tour in trade for hunting access in the northern SLO area???

eating fish all season long makes me crave something with some fat on on it!!!

We are planning a hunt early 09 in Texas targeting Javelina. Fun critters to bowhunt. The ranch owner said they were also being over run with hogs and to shoot as many as we wanted. Will have to bring a big cooler :smt003

I have always wanted to hunt Javelina.  I grew up in the AZ desert, so I have ran into javelina herds often.  Awesome, impressive animal.  I watched one hop onto a boulder like a cat.

Where in TX?  I am moving to Houston, on Tuesday as a matter of fact.

We will be hunting the Laguna Ranch, about 18 miles north of Laredo. A few of my buddies went there earlier this year and had a great time. All were sucessful. We are all bow hunters which ads a little excitement when hunting these toothy critters  :smt003

Iam in Houston and would be glad to help you out in any way. PM Papa Bill and he will give you my number.
You guys can hunt those javelins all you want , but the real eating is in the feral hogs. They are domestic pigs that have gone wild. Many generations have evolved into a real headache for the farmers and ranchers here and also many home owners.

Oh man I remember when my dad took a pig off Catalina island  many yrs ago. (Archery) he had some breakfast sausage patties made from it.  BEST tasting patties I've had to date!  Nothing in stores comes close to how that meat tasted!

Good job , killed 2 pigs with one shot, possibly more  ( unseen piglets ) ! Likely the baby won't make it without its mother . How about some hunting ethics to go along  the good fishing ethics in use by most on this board ! Would have been better to shoot the middle size one , some may dissagree , but personally I don't agree with shooting sows with piglets .

Don't see a tag , wheres the tag ?

In California pigs are feral animals... I shoot boars, sows, wet sows, and I even club the littlest buggers in the 5-10 pound range with the back of a hatchet because they make the best canitas.  Kill 'em all... it's the most ecologically sound thing to do.

...and I typically don't use a tag... a depredation permit for the family ranch is all that's needed.
