I'm wanting to go if it lays down. Right now I'm hearing 10 feet @ 21 seconds. It's supposed to lay down.

Swells look a bit too big for my liking. When does lingcod close? I thought it was end of November...
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

The swells look like they will be medium sized, but the key is the wind. It looks like it's going to be pretty calm, so that's what I'm watching. The launch is easy, even if the swells are up. Just a nice roller coaster ride out there.  :smt002 Lings season ends after Holloween. The rock season goes till the end of Nov. but this is when the big lings come in close to nest and get defensive of their space. Definetly THE best time of the year for a biggun.

DFG website says Nov.30th

quote]The recreational fishery for lingcod (Ophiodon elongatus) is open to divers2 and shore-based anglers only from April 1, 2008 through November 30, 2008. This fishery is open to boat-based anglers from June 1, 2008 through November 30, 2008 (see important NOTE at the end of this section).  Lingcod may only be taken or possessed4 in waters less than 120 feet (20 fathoms) deep5. The daily bag and possession limit is 2 fish, with a minimum size limit of 24 inches total length.[/quote]

I saw the big pond from Ft. Bragg today. No wind and way big swells 20 seconds apart. Lots of foam in close and very dirty water. Not my bag, yet.

Wow! Thanks Mike. I didn't check the regs about the lings lately. Your right! It does go till the end of Nov. Can you believe it? They gave us an extra month this year, and right when they come in shore to boot! :smt001 I guess that amertizes out the months we lost last year with the surprize early closure... Juan, according to NOAA Bodega Monday is predicted to have 5-7' swells, and 5-15 knott winds. That usually means decent conditions around Salt Point. You coming out?

Jonesz, I think I'm going to mosey down on monday, camp, and fish tuesday, maybe wednsday. Those look like the real flat days. This will allow the water to clear a bit too.

Me and Adam and our girls hit Ocean cove Sat and people had to be rescued and they shut the ramp down on Sun so- no go, didnt even get the yaks ready but had a good time, HUGE swells on Sat coming into the launch, 10 foot walls that ate everything, Ive never seen O.C. like that.
I'm up for Tues at the Ft.

I was at Ft. Bragg again today. It was foggy, breezy w/o whitecaps, cold, and the swells were still large and spaced far apart. Pretty barfy lookin'.
The tuesday/wed plan still looks like a go-do-it.
If it is flat enough I'll go anywhere Jonesz. The Fort would be new water for me!
I'll post my feelings again tomorrow.

I was in Bodega today and it was way big, but wind was no problem.  The Fort would still be doable under 10ft.  I might make it out for the Tues-Wed thing.
