Caught a 23.5 inch Halibut on the Hail Mary trip back to the launch using a trolled 3-way-shiner :smt023 (went light on the leader = 8# mono)

Nope...used my promar net as always. I kept the netted fish in the water the whole time I was measuring it - then slipped the game clip through the gill and out the mouth.

Yup, there are baitfish around but they are not "thick". I also failed to mention that I got another strike and miss at 9 FOW (my catch was at 12 FOW) . The Halibut are in there but I suggest trolling instead of drifting - cover more water and you'll have a better chance - IMO. I feel sorry for the boaters that were trolling all over the place and not getting any....with the cost of fuel and not bringing home the bacon simply hurts. If I (kayaker) came home without the bacon...I can always say "I got a good workout"  :smt002

The Oyster Point bait and tackle has limited bait (shiners) in stock - get there super early or get the bait the night before. If I remember correctly, it's a $1.75 per shiner.
