I headed north once again and fished the Klamath for probably the last time this year. I ended up with one chrome Coho on the morning I left. From there I headed for the Smith. Beautiful water, very windy, and no fish yet. It was closed to fishing while I was there. That would be the low-flow closure.
The one pic is my shadow on the bottom in about 15 fow.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Like your shadow, kinda looks sharky... I ended up with one king and several steelies. First steel of the new season.  :smt023 Heard your silver was HOT!! Nice! I remember when you could fish for em in the Russian and they were always hot fish.

That's a very cool pic Juan of the kayak shadow, I thought it was a big fish at first glance. Have any of you Salmon hunters gone upriver or over to the Trinity. I haven't been out there yet myself but my bro's have been there nearly everyday with filled salmon steelhead cards. The Klamath is still shy 20,000 fish, where the hell are they?

Every time I have been there the Yurok have been hammering them, including f'n coho.  I respect there right to harvest, but their methods SUCK!

Juan, Jonez... Freddie and I missed you guys on the Klamath.  After some crazy traffic, we got there late Thursday afternoon just in time to fish the last 1/2 hour of fishing.  It was definitely slow.  It was a clear case of "we should have been there last week" when you guys got into them.  I did manage to get one small chinook just under 24" bouncing roe on Friday, but that's a helluva long way to drive for one fish.  Still, it was a good time fishing the Klamath for my first time.

Jonesz...with no ocean fishing we should get a pretty good idea what the tribal fishery impacts are to the fishery.
Congrats to Juan and Chuck for catching salmon...someday!

Great time on the Klamath with Juan, Sean, ChuckE, Freddie, JD and Ryan.  Nice meeting you Jonesz as well.  Fishing definitely was not "on" but there was still something to be had.  Landed a nice fat coho on Thursday, fun but wrong species.  Sort of cool though because I'd never caught a California silver (I work with coho on the Russian River).  Lots of silvers rolling in front of us.  Awesome smolt (mostly Chinook) feeding action on a crazy hatch of bugs that looked like dust tornados upriver.  Never seen such an amazing smolt boil before.  Anyways fished Friday as well and landed a nice fresh little Chinook jack at 22.5" and maybe 5 lbs., enough for six nice fillets.  Scenery was amazing, nice to back, had been a long time.  Here's some pics:

Good luck actually getting accurate numbers from the tribe.  Just a shame that nobody will ever know how many fish they take regardless of how legal/illegal/right/or not right they are.
