I might be into it as well...  never been there.  Do you launch right at the bridge?

I encourage newbies to come along for all of us are newbies one way or another. The place can get windy but were I like to fish is some what sheltered. Almost sounds like we have to have an NCKA BBQ. Ive had A couple in the past. The launch is super easy.

Awwww man...  I'm helping a friend move on Sat. I believe.  Was thinking of hitting Del Valle on Sunday though, since I didn't catch a SINGLE striper at BAM (no bendo for me!).  But if you post a report on Sat, maybe I hit up the Forebay instead :)

I'm in and I'm a newbie (first timer newbie) too!

I don't have all the equipment for an ocean trip but since it's a reservoir, GPS isn't as important.

Does anyone has an exact location where we will be launching?

My neighbor was there last weekend. He caught two strippers using trolling. He said they were bitting at 7:00 am to 8:30 am and nothing afterwards.

I might be in if I can get a babysitter. Sunrise would be the best time, get there early before the wind does.

There is a park entrance off Hwy 152 on the west side of the forebay. Where many of us launched previously was on the east side of the forebay. Going east on Hwy 152, a couple of miles before reaching I-5, take the Hwy 33 exit. There are gas stations on the south side of Hwy 152. Turn left at the stop sign and drive north on Hwy 33 (also known as San Luis Rd) toward Santa Nella. In about 1/2 mile, there is a park entrance on the left. Somebody else will have to help with the name. There is a self-service kiosk where you pay fees for whatever you're going to do. At this location, no need to pay a launch fee because you don't have to use the launch ramp. There are plenty of spots along the shore where you can park near picnic tables and launch directly into the forebay. Hope this helps. When I was there last December, the wind began to blow around 11 am.

With the gale force warnings and huge swell off the coast, 99% chance I'll be here instead.  Thanks for the map!

Good luck out there guys!  by the way, you can catch live mudsuckers underneath the bridge by tossing small redworms near the shoreline.

I plan on calling to check the wind in the AM. I have been on the main lake on non windy days and it was blowing pretty good. Not sure if the forebay is different. For others here is the # 800-805-4805

Hopefully I see you all there...
