Got rained out playing uke with Sons of the Beach at the SC Harbor this morning, so I rode my bike to Kayak Connection to check on whether my Derby prize Trident 13 had come in.  "Yep, it's out front, and we need the space."  Home and back fast, picked it up, got it in the garage on top of the car and checked it out.  How come it has Trident 15 logos on it?  Sure looks nearly as long as my P15.
I got on the phone and asked if I hadn't picked up the wrong one by mistake, They call back in a few minutes and said the 15 was mine!   I don't know what happened, but Kayak Connection could have had me wait for a 13.
I took it over and gave it to my daughter-in-law - she's thrilled. My son and her father both are NCKA
members and now she can go out with us.  She did a lot of fishing growing up, so everyone should watch out once she gets a break from school!  She'll be trying it out in the harbor next weekend.
So thanks again to Kayak Connection of Santa Cruz.  That barely legal ling was triple good luck, lucky it wasn't short, lucky it won, lucky the win was upgraded!

Thrilled is right.  She is ready to go but busy studying a massive amount for this week.  Next weekend I think we will try Elkhorn Slough because it is a good mellow place to start.  This last summer when we fished near Hat Creek she was snatching the pole from me when I got a few nibbles on the lure.  I think this summer the boat will be in the water a lot since there is no school to get in the way of the fun of catching fish.

That and Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park is now open to us.  (For those interested it is a State Park only accessable by boat. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=464 )  There's a Youtube video out there of someone catching "a football sized trout" at the park.

Thank yous to both dads, one for the kayak and one for the seat.
