This is a warning to all my fellow outdoorsmen and women out there in the SAC area.  My job sent me to a conference in Sacramento this week.  I was there for 2 nights.  I checked out of my hotel, and went to the parking garage to find my tool chest which was secured by 2 cable locks had been stolen. I found one cable in the truck bed.  Lucky for me I was in a garage with a security camera.  The Manager was good enough to search the video and we think we found the individual.  He was casing cars at 1:30 in the morning, I was apparantly the second one he sized up.  He spent over twenty minutes cutting the cables.  He was driving a late model 4 door maroon or Burgendy SUV (medium size, maybe a Nissan Extera or Pathfinder with roof racks with cross bars, with a "Future Nissan" Lic Tag no real plate on it yet).  From the folks who run the garage , they told there had been a rash of break ins in the last few weeks in that area.  I was on K street two blocks from the capitol, a place I would of thought was safer.  I am a first responder and also motorcyle as well so I had a jump bag and a lot of tools in it.  Beware of where you park and what you leave in or on your vehicle. BTW because it was on private property the SAC PD wouldn't come out, I have to file a report online (now that was insult to injury).

Bummer...sorry to hear about what happened to you. We empty the car or hide in the trunk anything of value when we go downtown.

Thanks for the notice, Al

I hate to say it....

But Central, south and North Sac is nothing but a ghetto, with some very chic Coffee shops and small

restaurants, Like those.... :smt003

I've been running calls since yesterday Morning and will all night, as well as my Fellow Brothers too.

" This Town Needs a Enema "  Has never been so true...

The Homeless, have a HUGE support system in " Loves and Fishes " over by North C...

After the Morning Breakfast, they pretty much spread out thru downtown and various camps along the River,  Go North and you hit the wonderful Del Paso Heights, and it only gets worse from there as you make your way to Rio Linda... You know you've hit white trash Central when the Center of town does not take down the X-Mass Decor... :smt002

Some nice/cute homes in the Mid town, that have to constantly Battle Bums rattling garbage cans and whatever they can find surrounding their homes...

Move a little south, and you have no right being there.... :smt067 :smt068 :smt071 :smt072 :smt066

pretty much bad lands till ya Hit Elk Grove, don't know much about that, only make it down to white bread land for the Occasional Normal Medical call....

Downtown Sac is ripe with Hoods and Bad Deeds.....

So sorry about getting tagged and your warning should be Heeded..... :smt045

I hear ya when it comes to people stealing..the old lady thinks I'm crazy when we go places..but my feeling in you just can't trust people these days. People will break in just to take the littlest things or if anything at all.  :smt013 I cannot stand stealing, sorry to hear about that, hopefully the catch the S.O.B. FYI I'd check craigslist to see if the guy is stupided enough to try and sell the stuff. Sac Sheriff & PD have caught quite a few people this way..just a thought.

... You know you've hit white trash Central when the Center of town does not take down the X-Mass Decor... :smt002

Hey Don...give the people the benefit of the doubt its almost Christmas again...all the stores have the Decor out... Oh wait your talking about Christmas Decor all year round  :smt114 We have always joked and said you can tell where an alcoholic lives by the Christmas lights being up all year round.

The Enema  :thumright:....Natomas, South Sac, downtown, its like a mass wave. I'm fortunate enough to live in a good area and the neighbors watch everything like a hawk, but even then people will come from the ghetto areas to steal, I guess it like that all over though.

Thanks for the tip on craigs list.  Mel Brooks did a thing I think it was in "History of the World" when he did the whole "Spanish Inquisition skit" about sticking a hot fire poker up some ones "@#$" till they converted.  Of course right now I am kind of bitter, I had a small hatchet in the box, I was going to put back in my ruck sack at my Armory next drill , it had been with me for 25 years easily, nothing special, but I took an old ammo puch and mounted it to the ruck sack easily.  It has been around the world, it is ugly as sin, but I always new my ruck as it was the only one with a hatchet attached to it.

I grew up in Sac. I got out in '89  for the same reasons as Danglin mentioned and have never looked back. No regrets at all.
