I love it if I can go fishing and not have to hit the tackle store first.

But to do that, you first have to convert your garage to a fishing tackle store,  :smt005

I don't rock fish as often as I fish for butts, striper, and trout, so for me it was a toss up between hooks and swivels. Lately I find that I run out of hooks, mainly because I'm so picky about their sharpness that hooks rarely get to go more than one trip. When trout fishing picks up again I'll be running out of ball bearing swivels, also because I pitch swivels after only a couple uses since I have had more than one old swivel seize up on me due to corrosion, or just one too many large fish.

Whenever this gets to be a nuisance for me I add a stinger hook. This way the tail doesn't get chewed off as much and you hook more.

Something like the bottom images:

I'm always out of swivels and snap swivels. It's one of those things in your tackle box that you don't notice you're running out of until you reach for them.

7" swimbaits.

I stocked up last spring (spent like $80 for plastics & shad heads) and have been wondering if I'll make it through the season. So far so good....

I'm a tackle ho. I'm always stocked up for at least 2-3 trips in advance, if not more. It's a disease, honest.

Of course, since I got popped for oversized baggage on my last trip up to AK, I left three rods up there...

My plastic swimbaits are always getting their tails bit off.

This still happens to me sometimes but I found that if you trim the top of the tail down a little they slip out of their mouths easier. also dont do the monster sets, wait until you have non-spongey weight (easier with spectra and graphite rod), you loose way less tails.

I run out of the shad heads I like the most, ones with black owner(or equivalent) hooks and eyes.

yep, I counted my 2-4 oz shad heads with eyes and the count was a bit low so went by FW and got 8 2.5 oz shad heads, the ones that look just like anchovy heads and have the black owner hooks (little bit too bit for a 5" big hammer, but not bad). Now I feel all stocked up for a bit.

one of those with a 5" black hammer has taken the last two lings I caught as well as a few others.

piscean, if you start taking a black sharpie and painting the top of the shad head dark to match the stripe on the swimbait and then epoxying you have luremodificationitus. there is apparently no cure.

I'm still learning to get the swimbait bodies to line up with the heads :smt044
