While I'm not paddling right now, I'm considering a round trip from Tiburon to Angel Island in a few months.  I have a Tarpon 120 without a rudder and was wondering if anyone else has made this trip.  From what I've read online there are tours that are offered without much regard to experience level.  But, those are in closed deck boats.  Of course, I would go on a day without too much tide swing, and time the tides as well as I could.

There is a boat launch in Tiburon.  Watch the tide and currents in Raccoon Straights it can get downright nuts in there at the wrong time.

hay Sean there is a ramp but when I tried to launch the guard told me to get out of there that it was private and he would call
the police and have my truck towed :smt010

Hey, go for it.

You could also launch from fort baker on an incoming tide, and go back on the outgo.  I think the trip would be more scenic that way.  You can play around the GG bridge too, which is always fun.

I think that most folks launch from Sausalito, then ride the tide out and over. I've launched there and fished the outer edge of richardson bay.... SCallen has made that trip, i think he launched from Saus

You can also launch from the rocks at Tiburon, that's a snap - though you will get a lot of strange looks from teh touristas
