Trying to get ready for Bam IV but have a question about the legal and best wait to make bait there. I have never used live bait before so I am clueless at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Making bait at Mendo is a high art.... Ok, the skinny is if the shad are schooling in accessable areas near shore you can use a dip net or a hoop style net. If they are not, you better get a bait bucket and buy some minnows. Take it from someone who has burned hours chasing the little buggers.

What Shimmy said! This year the shad have been small and scarce, so your best bet is to buy bait if you want to go live.

Thanks for the input guys. With that outlook on the shad there maybe Popsicles  and lures will be my game plan.

Just remember that you have to declare whether you're using, bait, lures, or flies for BAM 4.

I put my bait bucket and a $10 bill on the counter ... I never have trouble making bait.   :smt003
