What's with those guys in the back ground? They're slacking. They missed a rock!!  WTG Juan. Figured if anyone was going find one it'd be you...I've never done the Klamath mob, but I've done the Smith and Chetco thing for years. Brings back fond memories. As for fighting salmon from a small boat. We used 8' prams, and the trick to keeping guys from casting over your line was to get on top of the fish and stay there. Once they were hooked we'd row over to get right over them, then start battling em. When the fish is right under you, folks know where your fish is and tend not to lob grenades over you.... Hmmmm, really thinking about making the run up there...

Very nice fish , I'm jealous ! Salmon closed in Sac. River and bay area , whats open on the north coast , all costal rivers , ocean above what point ?

From the looks of the gang across the river , you would think you were on the Nimbus Basin ! What did you get your fish on ? Fish looks much bigger being held than laid out on the yak , good pictures !

Ocean's not open until Oregon, and that's limited too.

Klamath is the only river where you can get a fish like that before it rains (Trinity is part of Klamath).  After that there will be the usual, catch and release only on the Eel, Mad, Van Duzen...etc. and the Smith is the California river where you can get a big prize too - but not great opportunities before it rains.

Thanks Abking , sort of what I figured on the ocean ! I have always had troubles deciphering DFG regs concerning  salmon / trout , guess rockfish regs are in that boat now also . Damn near need to contact an attorney before you fish in this state anymore !

Either way I'd be stoked for ya, but yes, I'm a little relieved too!

Mike: I love the seat! It was pricey but my ass is very appreciative. I can sit in it all day.
Nate and Adam, I might not be foolin' next time. One just has to hit the perfect mix of conditions when a big push of fish come in, and voila, kayak salmon.
I'm going again on tuesday.
