Van Damme Weekend-No abs, No Cabs, but Ling Tacos

Got to Van Damme about noon on Friday.  Pt Arena bouy had the swell at 7 ft.  Lots of breaking water outside the Van Damme cove, but there was a clear path to the bouy and outer edge of the kelp.  We fished for about three hours and went about 2/3 of the way to Mendocino/Big River.  Picked up a few blues in shallow water and gophers in deeper water.  Got one legal ling and my buddy got a nice vermillion.  The swell seemed like about 8-10 but there was no wind until about 3 pm.  Great conditions but not many fish.  When the wind came up we headed in and got an early start on a fish taco weekend. 

The wind and waves got bigger through Sunday, which is not all bad.  Kelp is starting to pile up on the beaches.  The heavy kelp this year made ab diving a little more challenging.  When the kelp thins out, we may have a great, late ab season.

Since we can't fish, we'll have ab tacos.
