Every picture tells a story baby...

Sweet, sweet, sweet AK trip with Chris Mautino of Liquid Adventures, one of the 4 salmon sharketeers. We hit up Resurrection Bay for the silvery goodness (1st kayak salmon!), then moved on to Kenai Fjords Natl Park to chill out. That's Pedersen Glacier. This is one caper that most likely had never been done - why take a fish yak into the ice? You know the answer... 'Cause we can!

Look for future coverage in Canoe and Kayak and Western Outdoors magazines. And if you'd dig a similar trip next year, shoot Chris an email. He's on the WWW. Dude loves any excuse to mix it up with the fish.

The trip was amazing. Really, it gets better and better in retrospect. I can't recommend it highly enough.

There are fishier places to visit in Alaska, or perhaps we just needed more time to convert on a monster or two. But the ice... simply incredible, a true show-stopper, well worth the diversion, and I think far more tangible from a SOT.

For a bit more context, Chris and his girlfriend Pam run sea kayaking tours out to the glaciers at Kenai Fjords. It is paddling paradise out there, but rarely fished. So naturally, we packed just the essentials and fished our way down the line, camping at a couple of stunning coves.

It was hard to leave; I wanted another week.
