I went with my wife to Elkhorn for an afternoon paddle up to Kirby Park.  Pretty easy going from the harbor to Kirby but on the way back with an incoming tide it was a bit more work.  All in all a great time, in addition I had my fish finder which was pretty quiet until I go under the Hwy 1 bridge then it lighting up.   I have a fishing question as to whether you can fish the west side of the pier and in the Moss Landing harbor in general?  If so any good experiences?

if paddling against the current, try paddling close to the shore.  Often that is easier than deeper water.

Truly sand dabs or were they baby buttes?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.
