Family Get-Together '08 (this year @ Clear Lake)

Every August, the Kahrs family travels from all over the country to hang out and catch up.  For years, that place was Crescent Lake, OR, until my grandparents tickers couldn't handle the elevation two years ago.  So for the past couple years we've been trying different locations a little closer to home to make it easier for the old timers to travel.  This year Clear Lake was the decided destination.
For the past few months, my uncle has been trash-talking, via email, announcing his intentions to bring his back-woods brand of bass fishing with him from Kentucky, and to prepare to be dazzled.  Whatever.  My dad, too, was itchin' to do some fishing.  I'm pretty sure in the weeks leading up to the trip, he was counting bass to go to sleep at night. 
In addition to bringing my T160 and P13, I borrowed a friends Hobie Quest, so we were set.
Over the next couple days, a pattern developed.  Wake up, fish, eat, fish, drink, fish, drink/eat, fish, drink, sleep and repeat.  The drinking parts were where we'd just hang out and chop it up with everyone at the big house, before dissapearing again to fish more.
My girlfriend had to work Wednesday, so we headed back home after a prime rib (fricken delicious!) dinner on Tuesday evening.

Highlights of the trip include (in no particular order):
-THE FOOD 
-my cousin bashing his trailered boat into the trees, trying to drive his giant truck down the driveway 
-paddling with the girlfriend 
-paddling out to fish with my dad and uncle, who'd been fishin' hard for nothing, and hooking up immediately right in between them
-my uncle, unable to catch a bass to save his life, catching catfish with a crankbait, and while dropshotting

With no inspection stickers for the kayaks till Sunday morning, I spent Saturday evening throwing rocks into the lake for this random dog to retrieve

Nothing like a family get together with bass fishin' trash talk!  Nice fish too.

Great report.  Family times are the Best of Times, Bungle - way to bring boats for your older male relatives to see what they've been missing.

The house was on a south leg of the lake, just west of Rattlesnake Island.

Yeah it does!  Shade was hard to come by where we were.  Houses up and down the shoreline left little room for trees.  The best bet for a break from the sun were the raised docks.

Nice!  But you left out pics of the girlfriend...

She took the camera with her (hers isn't waterproof) on our paddles, so all I've got is a self portrait of her feet.  Thats cool, I know feet are a big hit around here
