Thanks for the info Shark! After the MBK Tourney, I am pumped for the KC Derby!
Just a heads-up on the Entry Form, Sean Van Sommeran's name is misspelled.

Cool... Sounds fun and kinda creepy in a good way with a GW shark expert as the guest speaker.  I'm sure many of us have questions for the expert, and just maybe he can help bust some myths.

If the thick schools of bait in the area right now stick around, who knows what we'll catch.

I'm looking forward to this.  I was so bummed I missed my friends at the MBK derby, I was plagued by a perfect storm of vehicle problems.

Despite the fact this is move in weekend at the University, and probably my busiest weekend of work all year, I received permission (sufficient WAF) to attend the contest in role as OK rep.

Yay!

I'm figuring out right now what the prizes are going to be and will report back asap.

Fishing SC can be tough in September.  It can also be fantastic...Just depends.  We will hope for the best.  Heading to Pleasure Point or Lighthouse Point might be the best bet, though sometimes we have an influx of rockies and lings right out by the Mile Buoy.  Just remember, this is a derby, so keep your biggest fish no matter how small it might seem to you out on the water. (and don't listen to the radio fish reports)

A big halibut is always possible in any of these areas as well.
I will gather more info and post asap.

Kayak Connection is the original Kayak Fishing Derby host on the NorCal coast, been doing it for I think 7 or 8 years now. Always fishing friendly, they deserve our support.  Mark the owner regularily goes out each year for salmon from Moss (not this year :-(   ).

Past winners of KC contests include Chuck E, Alien, Jonathan (silent member/monster),  and, ahem, me........long ago in a galaxy far away.

Looking forward to seeing the gang again, and let's get a big one this time!!!!

Should equate to a good fishing tournament.

1st prize will be a Manta Ray Ocean fishing Kayak

huh?  You talking about the Kayak Connection Derby??

Don't know if you are, but 1st prize is definitely NOT a Manta for the KC Derby, it is a Trident 13.

BTW, are you gonna be there, Sharkey?

I'm sure the weigh in time is high noon, not 12am?
