The peddles only go one direction so sometimes a paddle is nice for maneuvering around when in the weeds and such.

I don't know if you're aware of it, but the peddles actually go in two directions. Simply install your drive backwards and your yak will go backwards. This is a great trick for holding close off boilers.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

I'm not letting my wife ride the Hobie. According to Kayote once you go Hobie you never go back. That would be embarrasing.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

My old Outback is now the wife's. Although I still "borrow" it every now and then. :smt002

Thankx for all the input boyz! :smt004 I'm probably going to give em a test drive this weekend. Windtoys in Santa Rosa also let you take em out to try. I'm going to bring my trailer so I can try em all.

what ?  no mention of the shark-factor. i reccomend you get a shark-shield if you take it in the ocean. i have heard that 2 of those boats have been attacked by great whites. i was thinking that those mirage drive fins move the water alot like a seal does.

This myth is getting more lame everyday. Give it a break! It was one. More conventional yaks have been hit by GWS. As a matter of fact I can confirm two of them were Ocean Kayaks. So should we worry about OK yaks??? Let's let this silly little myth die quietly. When you paddle/pedal in the salt you swim w/ the tax man, if you can't take it then stay on the local pond.

Moss colored Revolution, turbo charged! I've had a Quest for years and I've been very happy with the size, stability, and speed. So if you put a hobie drive on it, you got a Revolution. Love how they set up the decks and drains. They really put some thought into em. Right now I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to mount the depth finder tho. Not sure if I want to use the sail post hole or the front side gunnel?? Gotta go blind for a time or two, fish it and figure out what works. I'm already trying to figure out a way to mount shorter peddles or posts so you can rest your feet on the bottom and just feather the peddles for that stealthy bass fishin'  :smt004 Wheels are already turnin'...

i think hobies are great, well thought -out boats. furthermore the mirage-drive is brilliant. maybe i am wrong about the shark thing but maybe i am not. i do believe that the mirage-drive creates alot of splash-swirling water motion under the boat that is much different than that of a paddle blade. Zeelander calls it a lame little myth that should die quietly but he is on the hobie payroll. i believe it is worthy of mention.

What???  Zeelander is on the Hobie payroll?  Z, you've been holding out on me, buddy!!  Share some of that wealth! I'd sure like a pair of turbo fins, so if you can get Hobie to kick in a set I'd be grateful.   :smt044

I agree. Z is a bit of a wagon-jumper and spin-meister at times and to try to squelch such a thing and not declare he's on their payroll makes me doubly wary of his comments. (Z I don't think we've had a sparring match for a while, so I'm just trying to warm you up for the off season!)

you put big fins on something and peddle it around near ano nuevo island with 15 other yaks and that is the one that got bit and probably will continue to get the solid strikes!

if it were a lure company, they would be selling that one solid strike hard!

However, hobie blue is one of the biggest advertisements for bass fishing on a hobie there is, that guy should be sponsored, I mean bass fishing is big business and that guy kills it in the windy delta day after day with great pics. His posts alone make me think that if I was fresh-water fishing much more I would definitely go hobie, and who knows, maybe I will sell one of my boats and get a hobie for the sweet water fishing someday.
