Perfect afternoon with light winds all day. Fished out front of the harbor in 40 feet for one large brown rockfish. Harbor porpoises are back and two swam just about under the yak. Nice.
Ran over to Pleasure Point for one giant 16.5 inch brown rockfish in the kelp. Was like a vermillion. I hadn't seen one that big before in the bay.
Hooked about a 25 inch hali at the edge of the kelp  on a storm sardine with stinger, but lost to a head shake before I could land it. Kind of happy in a way-  it wasn't a 25# one.

thanks for the report, bummer about the loss, but at least you hooked one.  The smell of skunk is getting strong on me in regard to halibut.

Nice going Casey.  I'm going out tomorrow or Thursday to give it a try.  Probably head out toward the mile buoy and drift past Soquel Point.
