We have a Kia Sorento...I added the cross bars to the roof rack, then found these "J" styled holders to bolt-on (bought them online for $30 a pair - I totally expected them to be thin and flimsy, but they were sturdy steel, so I was happy). We use tie-downs I got from Ikea, and it works. The only prob...I'm short and need a step-stool to reach the kayaks, haha.

Toyota Yaris with Thule Hull-a-port.  Little car gets 34 mpg and I have put a ton of fishing miles on it.

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

I wanted the car first and of course realized I needed the truck after. Eh, it works, but I'd like a used 4D 4WD Tacoma. Someday...

Fantastic topic! Loved looking at all of your rides and kayak carrying systems. As of late, this is how I'm rolling: Tacoma with an ARE top, Thule 460 Podium rack system and Bones' old O.K. Big game (for Bones', notice the "medic" decal is still there, minus the "Bones"  in the center of the cross) Hope to see more of us post. A picture is worth ...............

Bought a 2013 TDI wagon 2 days ago. With the high torque, I should be able to keep some really decent mpg's with the yak on rack. So far the car is getting 43mpg  :smt003 on the highway, very awesome!
The other is a 2010 Tundra SR5 with adj racks. Cool truck but trips to the salt are killing  :smt010 my fun fund. Mike
