Got an emergency call to come in to work last night which ran into the wee hours this morning.  They gave me today off which translated into a bonus fishing trip.  After a little sleep I loaded the gear into the truck and headed out.  Got on the water a 9:00, outgoing tide with no breeze.  Started throwing the frog with great success.  I got a few in the tules, but most came from working the frog over grass.  By the time the frog bite died, the tide was bottomed out along with my energy.  Ended the day with ten on the frog.  If you have ever wanted to try this, get out there and start chucking into shade, tules and any floating vegetation you come across.  There is nothing quite like seeing your frog get smashed by a big bass.

Gotta love fishing with the frog! Fish number one has some strange red marks towards the rear.

Thanks for the report and pics.

Fish number one was the largest and ugliest of the day.  He is also sporting a sore on the side of the mouth.  Poor guy needs some Valtrex or something.

Nice work Frog-man.  Those are some big (and ugly) bass.  Looks like a couple over 5 at least.

Keep it up, and see ya next time.

At least the delta is not too big, so the western designation should narrow it down to several hundred square miles.   :smt002

It's always more about the technique than the location, you can lead people to fish, but catching them is usually not a preordained outcome.....  :smt003

Awesome report and pics!!

I guess I have to get my lazy rear out there.  I bought a similar colored frog a couple months ago and haven't used it yet.  It's time to get the webs of the yak and get out this weekend.

I'm definitely a rookie yak fisher and have never fished the Delta but it looks like great fun.  Where's the best place to launch?

He is also sporting a sore on the side of the mouth.  Poor guy needs some Valtrex or something.

Of the few delta trips I've made this year I counted about a half dozen fish that had big sores like that. Old hook scars usually don't look that bad, at least not in my experience, I wonder if they're getting infected.
