Finally got to see Harold "FUZZ" in action underwater...he is TRULY a NATURAL  :snorkel If you ever get close enough to him, look behind his ears and you'll see gill slits  :nemo: He is definitely a freak of nature :smt002 I had to step up and show him my death defying 9.5-second-breath-hold skillzz....instead, I failed miserably  :smt078 Fuzz took pitty and observed my so-called skillzz and immediately took me to school and corrected ALL my bad habits (too many to mention :smt011) I was very thankful to be in the presence of such a phenom freediver / hunter  :worship After two days of free diving for crawdads, my mentor finally decided to give me a new nick name......

The beach at D.L. Bliss is one of the best in Tahoe.  Did you see any crazy cliff divers off the rocks around the point?  That is actually one of the deepest parts of the lake right there around that point - over 1,000 ft!

Not very dog friendly...
Dogs were either kenneled or on a leash.  No dogs allowed on the beach.  :(

It was a fun trip.  Lots of clean water, not much fish, lots of crawdads, a couple bears, good food, great friends, nice conditions, lots of happy kids, a few bear droppings, and more good food.

Thanks to Joel for being my dive partner for a couple days and everyone else who made the trip enjoyable.   :smt001

First picture is of Joel the Manatee in action with his first ever crayfish.

Second is a pic of Savage & mini-savages heading out to fish the point.

Tote and I picked up Macks last year right off the rock wall just south of Bliss - cool spot for sure.

Nice on-going report, Manatee!   :smt001

Quality...Quality!!  Great get together at the lake with the "Legends of NCKA" :smt007  Hookin fish is just a bonus, when you got all that shore-fun going down.

After fishing, we had lunch at a small hole-in-da-wall taqueria

Was the hole in the wall off of Lake tahoe blvd. on south shore.

...not quite sure....Fred knows for sure -  he recommended the place.

Actually, I doubt that Fred will know the name.  We went there on Zilla's recommendation last year.  (Zilla would be the one to know the name of that place) The taqueria is on a small street behind the Taco Bell across King's Beach on Lake Tahoe Blvd.  Their tacos were awesome.  They share a building with a small mercado.
-------------------------------

We had such a great time camping, especially the kids.  There was about 30 of us there.   The sites were small but completely shaded.  We had a few incidents with the bears there but we all came out alive.  The nightly potluck was full of great food- lumpias, tamales, ribs, spanish rice, carne asada, tri-tip steak, pasta salad, vegies, poki, ice cream and cobbler to name a few.  We all hung out at the beach during the day.  (I made sure to put (and reapply) sunblock on all the kids and forgot about myself... I have a raccoon face right now. :smt004) From kayaking to paddle boarding to picking rocks, the kids were always entertained. This camping trip came and went way too fast.  The boys wanted to stay an extra day.

Although we had a great weekend at DL Bliss, the rangers there were are like Nazis- so many rules to follow: couldnt leave bottled water out, everything had to go into the bear locker including cosmetics, car air freshners, baby wipes, etc.  Dogs had to be on a leash at all times and were not allowed on the beach (although that didnt stop this one family from bringing their two little chihuhuas that almost attacked Ethan on the beach!)  The sites are small and there is only one shower for the women and one for the men both of which was in the restroom so there was little privacy.  Restrooms were fairly clean though. I would probably recommend Sugar Pine instead.

I would post some pictures but I dont have a camera [anymore], so I'll leave it to the "Bear", aka the "Manatee", aka "Mooch" to do the picture posting.
