I'm usually around putah creek, and lake solano.  I havent gotten to berryessa yet but I would love to learn the great places to fish around there.  Got a friend getting a yak soon and he'll be heading up there a lot also.

I just got back from Lake Solano. I rather new to Kayaking and fishing so I'm in the learning stages. I've been to Berryessa twice fishing from the yak. No sucess yet. Any pointers or if your planning on going maybe we could meet up and give it a try.

i'm actually heading up tomorrow early morning with my roommate and a friend from work, were gonna be up there around 630-7ish, probably gonna park either by the launch ramp in solano or farther up around the first fishing access heading towards the dam.  I'll be the white jeep cherokee.
I can tell you this I have only had luck under two conditions in lake solano/putah creek:
1.) being that i am using power bait (tan/brown color) with a simple hook/sinker combo.
2.) Being that i go in the morning between 6am and noon.

Other than that i never catch anything. :smt013
Berryessa is a different case, you can easily get a bass or catfish if your up in the capel cove area,  I have yet to take my yak up there as i Have also just recently joined the yakking community but I have fished off many a powerboat up there and caught fish.

During the week is tough for me. Weekends are best with the occasional weekday. Love to keep in touch tough. The Trout were biting for the green power bait, I just didn't figure it out until it was to late. I live in Vacaville so maybe we can hook up soon. Thanks for the info. Keep in touch.

Thats sounds great, as long as you don't mind fishing with wit a 48 year old guy. Anyway I can't get out there this Sat., but should be good for the next weekend. What type of Yak do you have. I bought a Hobie Tandem, but I use it as a single. I also added a bunch of rigging.

Good to hear age doesn't matter. I'm going to shoot for a week from Saturday. I haven't put in over at the dam or the day use area yet but am going to give it a try. Or I could be convinced to head up to Berryessa. I want to see if I can put in near Markley Cove so I can be near the Dam if I want to. This way I won't have to pay the 20 dollar launch fee. There's a fire trail I might be able to get down. Otherwise I put in at Capel Cove (free launch).

so today was pretty decent, I got 3 trout and a small bass right above the solano day use launch.  It definitely died out after 10 am.  there were HUGE trout jumping all over.  I really wanna hit the lake up by the damn so if you head out that way i might be right behind ya.

Fantastic. Were you using the usual power bait. Were you anchored or did you troll. I didn't realize there were any Bass in that lake. What did you use to catch it. If I do go to Berryessa I'll let you know. That would be great.

I didnt know there were bass there either so u can imagine my surprise when i pulled one out.  I was using a giant night crawler for it.  It was right outside the kids fishing area so i think someone might have thrown him in from there.

I was using the bright orange non sparkling power bait.  heres the funny thing using that bait the fish were going crazy and i was getting hits like you wouldnt believe, the bad part, I only had about 3/4ths of a container and ran out quick, so when i switched up it was like the fish werent having it with white / tan / green orange bait.  I was anchored.

Thats funny. I think it's a good idea to have as many colors as possible. I can't get out for awhile and it's killing me. Oh well soon I hope. We'll try to hook up soon, no pun intended.
