Clear Lake 7-17 / 7-18

Headed up to the lake for some bassin' accompanied by HobieBlue and one of my buddies.  We met up at M&M in the Oaks and were greeted by windy conditions and what looked like a family reunion in the campgrounds.  Whitecaps on the main body convinced us to head into the keys where we found a tough bite.  Managed to scratch up a couple on the frog, but it was slow going so we called it a night.  After a few minutes of sleep, thanks to the crowd next door, we woke up great conditions.  The wind had laid down and it was glassy on the lake.  We headed out on the Rattlesnake arm and found a solid frog bite on the weeds and in open water.  We stuck some fiesty fish to about 4 lbs on the frog and one on the buzzbait.  I ended the day just short of a dozen, all but one on the frog.  Beautiful lake, gotta hit it one more time this year.......

the word on the water was a slow bite today. this moon may be making nighttime the right time.
C-lake at night can be a very creepy experience and topwater even more exciting.

It was a great trip for sure (and my first to Clear Lake).  Kevin definately had the hot stick and his frogs were a bass magnet.  I ended up with four that hammered my Snag-Proof Frogs and Furbit in the morning, all between 3 and 4 pounds, quality fish.  Lots of fun.  I will certainly return sometime soon.

Im also interested in seeing your version of the V-mount.
Im just shocked other folks are calling it that.

I guess I got tired of having to ask others to take pics of my catches.  I stole a few ideas from others on the site and came up with this vanity mount (I think Z was revering to an earlier thread where I called it that) to take pics myself.  It works good enough for me.  The Hobies have a hole for a sail kit that I stick the pvc into.  I used a pool float to ensure an accident doesn't leave me scuba diving for my camera.  Found the right sized screw to attatch my camera, and its done.  I am also gonna make a hole through the pvc pipe to more securely attatch the camera just in case it gets knocked off the screw.

Love the ClearLake Morning shots...so red&bright!!   You guys were on a serious FrogMission!!   listening to others while trying to sleep is NOT FUN....gotta pack the ear-plugs tight.
I've only yak'd the StatePark and RichmondPark(south) RattlesnakeIsland seems to get alot of the write-ups in the reports.
I can't recall a report from CL from that area....good to know it can be done.
