On the water by 9:30 with Sean / Piscean and Mike the Goutless Angler. Conditions were FAC (Flat Ass Calm) just like the day before but no sign of wild life. Mike caught his first ling (no longer a Ling virgin - it was short of keeping and released) and was a very happy camper :smt003 Sean scored a big black RF and I managed an 18 inch Cabby. Great day on the water :smt001

Nice one Mike!! I lost my virginity there too, last year!   :smt002

When you said you had the day off....you didn't say you were hookin up @ the Bean again!!  thought we were closer than that man :smt010

Sweet conditions are hard to come by...you guys got two days of it in a row.
I'm sadly jealous!! :smt003

oh...and according to Mike, someone from Coast Side said that the land lord was spotted at Pescadero YESTERDAY :smt118 (Pescadero is just on the North end of Bean Hollow)

Maybe the same one that hit Dan last year.....since it was this time last year it happened :smt102

Guys he is always there just nice enough to let us fish there with minimal contact. Dan just happened to pay our dues for our lease last year.

Way to get out there on what looked like another epic flatty day. Mike congrats on popping your LC cherry and glad to hear you released your cute fish. Myself I had another successful day at DV will report later.

Conditions being what they were I was suddenly struck with a wicked case of "da madness" Monday morning, and called in such to my office. Fortunately my coworkers are the best so I got away with it.

It was pretty much "lake Bean" again, but still pretty slow fishin.

I got a couple of nice sturdy takedowns and finally stuck one. A few pulls up, then zzzzzzzzzzzzzz it takes line down toward the bottom. Yes! I'm thinking maybe a ling....a few more pulls up then the same zzzzzzzz as the fish is bottom bound. Now I'm starting to think, small flatty? Giant Cab? Finally get it up topside & its a HAWG of a black RF. Largest black I've personally caught I think. Taped it out at home & it was 21.5". We're talking "Elk size"!

I tried for the rest of the day to get a few more like that fat sucker but only scored a few small black & yellows & one more decent black. It looked puny next to the larger fish though.

On the beach we chatted with the parks dudes about the "shark sighting" & the main guy said he was almost sure it was probably a dolphin or porpoise since there were so many about Saturday. Could be, but as i said to Mooch, the flat calm day with a lot of topwater bait balls, plus feeding activity from whales & such = perfect conditions for other deep water denizens to cruise the surface so anything is possible.....

.....I'll still just figure it was a dolphin. Yeah, that's all, just a dolphin.

-Sean

PS: My elation of the day was pretty much wiped out when the water pump on my truck died on the way home, middle of nowhere twixt Bean & Davenport. It turned a 30 minute trip into an almost 2 hour journey, stopping to refill the radiator & let the engine cool over & over. Darn machines!

Wow, what a bummer the Bean has been lately.   Its good you guys caught some fish but the stringers really don't match the ones from previous years.   Maybe the rockies are all near pescadero?   :smt003
