Crew: Sean "Piscean", Adam "Fish Hunter", Joel "Mooch" ,Angel "Pacifico", Nate "Bungle" and Eric B. as "Eric B."

*Got to da Hollow and saw a rare sight  :smt104 Conditions were as flat as Angels flat top hair doo :smt002

*Sean and I were the first wave, therefore we were rewarded with rockstar parking :headbang: We fished in front of the mouth in 30 - 35 FOW while waiting for the second wave to show up. I hooked up with a 20 inch Halibut (released) while thumping the sandy bottom with a megabait-siwash-hook-bucktail jig.

The entire crew managed to pick through "cute" (smallish) RF all day but also happened to catch a hail mary fish at the end of the trip...

my score for the day were several CUTE RF - released all and kept 3 due to fatal lure swallowing (chinas, black and yellows and a few gophers) and I managed to bag a nice black RF...

Water temp was about 60 degrees...lot's of bait around. Angel was amped about his first whale sighting....Nate and I had to constrain him as he wanted to paddle next to it to "pet" it  :smt011 A few dolphins were feeding in the area as well. The wind was nonexistent and the swells stayed low all day.

We had lunch at Tres Amigos (HMB) after....and Adam was not happy about it....apparently, it's was not authentic enough for him  :smt028

As I made my way home, I decided to stop by Linda Mar. Saw several kayaks on the parking lot so I decided to stop by and see who it was. Turned out to be a group of spearos that took advantage of the flat seas and the good vis and did pretty good with the lings, cabs and lot's of hand picked rock crabs....

still not quite happening, eh? I saw a report for very slow rockfish in HMB on coastside so I figured the bean might be the same. maybe it is some sort of low-oxygen upwelling like happens in oregon?

go south or go deep (or both) seems to be the rule still this season.  or go north even.

It was a blast to get the Ol'BeanJuices flowin with the Fellas again...I've been there more times and turned back due to WX...this time when I passed the usual WaveBreakingSpots, there were none!
...which brings back a post about ME, hoping for SURF/waves to ride and saying," Prepare yourselves for long periods of FLATNESS!".....well?  since that post, I've only been "granted" two good days of waves.

I had limited action on the RF, a couple of blacks and a massive tackdown that damn near pulled me over, only to fight it up, scream out YES!, then it let it go. :smt010
No hits on the Big stuff, only the teezer got tazed.
My first close-up Whale sighting and got to see the Dolphins too.....if only I could have sighted the thing that slammed me? it would have been a "perfect day"

pic1~ from a pullout, looking north along DevilsSlide....when they finish the tunnel, the highway will be bike and foot traffic only.

pic2~ EricB gettin his vessel prep'd for the HairyLaunch.

pic3~ on the lake and ready to get jiggy!..... Sean,    Mooch,   Eric(B. as in cowBoy)

I wandered up north of the mouth, by the first big rock, away from the group and at one point I had the whale, a pod of dolphins, and a sea lion all within like 100 feet of me at the same time.  Like Mooch said over the radio it was like being at Marine World.

When I first saw the whale I paddled a short distance towards it, then not knowing where it would come up next I furiously paddled a safe distance away...  scary/awesome and humbling.

Nice to meet you finally Angel and Nate!

Had pretty steady action on small chinas and cabs up by the rock.

pic1~ ...and Nate  = GoodCallDude!

if the WX stays like this for the remainder of the RF season, remember who to thank!!

...ohh!  and let's take a poll>
We had lunch at Tres Amigos (HMB) after....and Adam was not happy about it....apparently, it's was not authentic enough for him  :smt028
i was happy with my order Buddy(2 fish tacos), but I already knew this place was below "real Mexi-standards"
1st. SIGN>  when you see NO MEXICANS in a mexican "restaurant" (not including the servants&cooks) :smt004

2nd. TIP-OFF> you get plastic forks&knives to eat burritos, tacos and sandwiches. :smt011 (aCAUCASIONmust)

3rd.& most important!> out of the two types of salsa they offered....NEITHER had a KICK to them(I'Monly1/2MEXICAN&sufferdNOsought-afterBURN!) :pottytrain5:

I'd rather go to the little taquerias where you see "real people" spending their pesos...i mean money. :smt005

see you boys at Elk....or somewhere inbetween. :smt006
