July 19th will be the 2nd annual Sonoma County Angler of the Day Tournament.  Last year was a great success with about 25 anglers and a lump sum pot of ~$500 going to Dustin Rockhopper.  The format for the event is the same as the Angler of the Year, but in one day and within Sonoma County.  So for ocean thats Bodega Bay to Gualala and freshwaters Petaluma River east to spring lake and north to lake Sonoma.  The entry is $20 to be paid in cash to me the morning of the event.  I have room at the farmhouse for people to camp out but if you plan to come out the morning of, just send me a PM and you can pay me at the BBQ and weigh in which will by at the farmhouse 6000 N Highway One, Bodega Bay.  It's really easy to find, we are 5 miles north of Bodega Bay on highway one, in between Portuguese and Gleason Beach.  It's a rustic old red farmhouse, I will have signs up and I am sure you will see all the cars and tents.  Weigh in will be 3PM and fishing can start at first light.  You can either bring your biggest fish with you or take pictures on a measuring board.  Again points system will be the same as AOTY.  No pooling or team fishing, the honor system will be employed! If you PM me for entry you will be required to pay whether you show up for the BBQ or not, don't make me hunt you down :smt011.  Hope to see you all out there.

This is not an NCKA sponsered event and therefore is not responsible for personal injury or loss

adam:

Brian and I discussed this last year and really wanted to do it but being the host I thought I should hang back...but if the wind stays down you could hit lake Sonoma for largemouth, smallmouth and landlocked steelhead....then hit the road past the damn that goes all the way the coast..forget the name.  It comes out about salt pt.  Hit the coast there somewhere and then head down to the farmhouse.  It would be cool if someone did it, but I will probably again hang back in the AM.  You would need to at lake Sonoma before sun-up I think to get it done.

Good luck

I might go out of salt pt and paddle up to fisk mill if the weather is good, otherwise it will be the fort.
Frank I will reserve you a spot. Anyone else.

Jim I'm trying to get out of work but even if I don't I will be there to camp and hang out in the afternoon. Last year I was planning to do the Lake Sonoma thing also but was feeling a little under the weather that road is not nice. I might hit RR for a smally then off to the Fort.

I'm in and will more than likely hit Fort Ross.

I'll be camping at your pad, Jim, but will just crash out in the back of my truck like last year.

Thanks for putting this together!

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

I'm IN!  So long as I can camp out Friday night that is.  Would be leaving from San Jose after work, getting there sometime hopefully before sunset.  I have never been up that there before, so have no clue where to fish, or what to fish for.  But sounds like fun ;)

the Red Barn (jim's house) is right off hwy1....just north of Bodega. I plan to hit Ft.Ross 30min north or Salt Point 45min.north of red barn. The fishing is better the further you get north. If you plan to camp? PM Jim (Inseine) and let him know...he's got space but needs a heads-up.
I went straight out from the red barn last year and couln't find much structure to jig. If the swell is down, you'll have a blast! anything that is dropped, will get hit. Check out others postings in the fish reports on what's the easiest.
A leadheaded jig w/a swimbait or anything on it....if you plan to fish for big stuff(deeper than 80ft?) you'll need a minimum of 6-8oz. of lead to get past the pesky smaller fish...if you want fish for the cooler? go smaller/shallower.
If conditions are favorable? I may see you at Jim's frinite....then to better grounds in the a.m.
