After getting turned away from the Ocean again, I figured I'd do as the romans, while in Rome!
Brought my Bodyboard, "other" wetsuit and stuff with me this time and caught me some headhigh waves in Pacifica on the way back home.
I spent every weekend, holiday, day off, surf-after-work and my HONEYMOON here, over the last 15+years. Then I saw a FishingKayak and had to put the wave riding on hold for 2.5yrs...until last Friday that is!
Ran into the ol'crew and had a DOUBLE SESSION of waves.
2hrs of waves combined with an O-T-W Dbl-CalfCramp, followed by a break/stretch/some food and I was talked into another session.
I have muscles that have not been sore like this for a long time.
It felt soooOOOO good to get salty again! now when the swell is too big to fish?
I'll be O.K. and tired!
...I had to tell my surf buddies that I'd been whishin for small surf the last two RF seasons....they called me not-so-nice-names :smt005 and a sellout  :smt011
best of BOTH worlds and lovin IT!

Way to cover the options, like you (now) I generally look forward to small seas, but if you can enjoy both, more power to Ya. (my lack of balance and coordination will keep me off the surf boards forever)

I'll try to keep a sane balance of the two from here on out.....but i may confuse myself further along the way and might need a smack in head every now and then. :smt002

Adam, If you were to hang up your kayak and take up boarding full time that would guaranty flat calm seas for the  rest of us.............go for it!  We would be happy to wave to you now and then  as you wait in the parking lot for the swells that would never materialize. Just Kidding......cool pictures!

Yeah Adam!
Great photos man. It sure looks inviting, sounds fun - I would definitely find some soreness in spots I had not had in awhile, too. Thanks for the report!

That sounds good leave more fish for us too. Nice shots Adam,I think you need to get a Surf Yak 1 cheap Pole, pocket full of tackle, you don't keep much anyway, make us jealous as you fish on the tough days and have a blast on the way back in,

Nice pics Adam!
I spent Sunday doing the same!
Went to Santa Claus lane in SoCal with Laura's family for Father's day & spent 6 hours with all the beach toys. Yak surfed 'til I got royally stuffed,  then body surfed a few, then went in & grabbed a bodyboard to see what this "sponging" stuff is all about :smt003. Now, I gotta get one!
Whatcha charge for tutoring?

Yes Adam, I'm still working on the balance thing myself. I hardly fish in winter, but I get to surf a lot. Spring sucks for both. Fish hard in summer. Fall is where it gets tricky. But I always bring the boogie just incase. I still want to have the yak loaded up, anchor in the channel and do both! Keep those surf muscles tuned up.

ps You familiar with Toobs bodyboards? I just stopped working there after 14 years. that gives me more time to balance myself...

...got him in the boat he measured six foot long I was so dang impressed I had to write this song...

what's the MPG?
..about 22mph & I've got a long list of injuries to go with 15+yrs. of wave chasing
~Broken nose w/double black-eyes
~Broken Rib
~Seperated Shoulder
~Pulled ALL tendons in lowerback=out of commision for a month! Got drilled onto the shore, folded in half the WRONG WAY(kicked myself in the back of the head with my own feet/flippers!)..it hurt.
~ Upper 2 teeth, through lower lip
~ Damaged rotaters for life, from paddling
~Chronic Sinus Infections w/aching teeth, throbbing sinus cavity and Slime-Like Nasal Yummies=EVERYTIME now!
......would do it all again,IFiCOULD! :smt005

That is my EXACT plan Allen... so stand by&prepare yourselves for extended periods of flatness,REAL soon.

There are a few guys that have done it there, on thier surf and bodyboards in the past. I was once catching some decent waves there, when a guy in a SOT(I didn't know WHAT the HELL this thing was!), but could see his legs sticking out the top? and he was just outside of the surf line, throwing plugs and pullin up  BeastStripers and holding them up to show me.....never did i know I'd be hook later in life.

Nice pics Adam!

Just try hard and have fun doing so.....I've got an extra BODYBOARD and some BB-flippers to bring out.
Just add waves and we'll be having fun bro!

I have been thinking how to pull that one off without loosing or smacking myself in the face with the camera....stand by!

Yes!...i've got a t-shirt of thiers and I too dream of a bigFISH and a bigWAVE in the same day. It CAN and WILL happen. We'll have to Fish&Surf somewhere, someday!
I've gotten away from it since this Madness took over and my body is SHRINKING by the month.....but my breath holding seems to stay strong?..can't figure that one out :smt044       :smoke     :tom

...and thnks to the rest of yous' for encouraging me to GO SURF!(like i used to do)
and this what I used to be able to do......we'll see if I still can....stand by! :smt044

Great report/story Adam. And sweet pics too. But (not like you don't already know), you can fully expect to get big-leagued if you "paddled" a bodyboard to the lineup at any of the local beaches down here.
