I'm going to be at Shelter Cove to participate in a memorial paddle out on Saturday the 21st.  I'm not sure of the schedule, and I'll also be hanging with a surfing crowd - I assume their gathering, paddle out, and barbecue will encompass much of Saturday afternoon and into the evening.  While I'm honored and excited to be included in their festivities, I'm also on my own mission down there - to fish and possibly ab dive of course!  There are good minus tides early Saturday and Sunday, the long-term forecast at this time shows 4' swell heading into the weekend, and the first days of Summer are typically very nice weather at the Cove (a prediction of at least some afternoon winds seems prudent given the history of this Spring's weather...).

If any NCKA family members are up for the trip we should hookup.  I'd be willing to show on Friday, but will go down Saturday very early if not Friday.  Probably come home by early afternoon Sunday (late if the fishing/hiking/diving/visiting/river excursion dictates it...).  I have a room at The Tides Inn for Saturday - $160 and it has two double beds.  If I know you and you want to come we could split that room - they've also set aside the first-come-first-served garage for me to put my gear in at night; and it's adjacent to my first floor room.  The Tides Inn is right on the beach and about a 1 minute drive from the launch.

One activity that's been on my mind for Shelter Cove (especially with the lack of a salmon season) is a desire to get back up to Gitchell Creek.  It's a great low tide reef 3 miles north of the Cove along the Lost Coast.  There are big abs there and I sense a giant cabezon is there, waiting for me to catch it.   :smt003

I'll be there if not traveling (escalation) that week.

Cool, Sonny - keep me updated about whether you're coming and when you'll be there.  If it's flat in conjunction with the minus tides we should get on some big abs.   :smt007

I've had a slight change of plans...  possibly!  Mama now says she and the little squirts will come down since I've got a cush room lined up.  That could change, but, either way, trip's on!  :smt003

So it looks like Sailfish will be there by Saturday midday.  That leaves me fishing alone Friday and hitting the minus tide solo on Saturday...   :smt010  I'm such a sad and lonely fisherman.   :smt002

It's only a 6-pack, PK!   :smt003

Besides, don't you want to hear more stories associated with sunset cab shots like this one?   :smt007

Wish I can get Friday off to be there fishing with you!  You can do me a big favor by scouting the area on Friday and mark all the "hot" spots.   :smt003
